Pretty much - although you omitted the the crucial part - the sailor or officer coming aboard approaches the Chief of the Day, gets down on his knees, and kisses the Chief's buttered belly.

They didn’t mention that in “The Officer’s Handbook”. Funny how they leave certain things out.
