A prostitution sting resulted in eight arrests Thursday night in Grand Forks.
The Grand Forks Police Department conducted the operation by putting advertisements on Backpage.com, a classified advertising website. The arrests were made at a local hotel, according to Lt. Dwight Love of the Grand Forks Police Department.
Love said the ad netted 30 to 40 responses.
"Quite honestly, we could probably do it once a week for a while and get that many," he said. "We were pretty shocked by the level of responses we got."

Short article; pics at the site.
"The local arrests follow the arrests of 17 men in Bismarck earlier this month."
Boomtowns and whores are nothing new.
Besides, GF has had a reputation for various slot machine operations for a long, long time.
I’m shocked there are hookers in an oil town.
Like dropping a grenade in a fish pond.. You’re gonna catch something.
Posting it online gets it off the streets and out of the public eye. The same people complaining about adult bookstores and peep shows are now complaining about Internet pornography.
You are simply not going to stop or regulate human behavior.
“Sting’= ‘Entrapment’ 99% of the time. Leave the consenting adults alone.
(Now, if there are MINOR girls there, different story...)
I suppose busting Johns is much safer than arresting actual criminals.
And a hell of a lot more profitable.
How can it be illegal to rent something, but perfectly legal to give it away?
Or to advertise to a woman to submit to torture and degradation so a man can feel empowered.
Torture? I missed that in the article.
It was immoral and. under certain circumstances, classified as fornication.
But these days, in this society, it is de facto, legal.
And someone far wiser than I will have to supply the answer.
As I understand it these operations have to be done a certain way.
They have to discuss a particular sex act to participate in and they have to agree on a price.
The girls also may ask you to show them the money to prove intent to purchase the desired acts.
Otherwise these charges can easily be thrown out of court so I’ve heard.
At least Dustin looks remorseful.
Selby looks like Roland Gift from The Fine Young Cannibals and Scott looks like he’ll re-offend.
But they play Division I hockey there and this time of year the action heats up lol.
Anywhere there are scumbuckets with money but a big negative on social skills, there will be professionals relieving them of the money they are too stupid and worthless to have.
