NEW YORK, Feb 12 (Reuters) - New York City, once notorious for high crime, broke a record on Thursday with no murders reported for 10 straight days, police said.
The historic calm achieved at 12:01 a.m. Thursday comes on the heels of a notable year - murders in New York City in 2014 fell to an all-time low of 328, the fewest since the New York Police Department started keeping reliable records in 1963.

Lol. Snow, maybe?
2 degrees with a -25 wind chill tends to keep people indoors.
Snow, cold, and wind will do that.
Chicago’s got game in worse weather.
Ever try to fire your stolen 9mm with bulky ski gloves on?
The murders will resume when the weather improves.
All the bodies still covered in snow maybe?
I suspect when the snow melts they’ll find all of the bodies. They’re just not being reported now.
This just in... the last person in NYC was murdered 11 days ago.
Comrade DeBloodio must be in a panic.
Yep, delaying the reports for a few days to get ‘good publicity’ and then will quietly submit them on a busy Friday night so they will be ‘overlooked’ by the msm.
They outsourced their crime reporting to India.
There have been 114 herders in the last 10 days.
One might think that a city that large and diverse must have a violent crime problem, but in fact, over the last 15 years or so, NYC has had one of the lowest violent crime rates/homicide rates of any big city in the country. This years homicide numbers are not a fluke and have nothing to do with cold weather and snow, but rather, the low numbers are a continuation of a long-term trend that is deserving of praise and admiration..
The criminal homicide rate in NYC is about 5.1 per 100,000 people who live there (and even lower if you count the 1.7 million daily commuters and visitors). That's significantly lower than places like Dallas, Denver, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, Houston, San Antonio, Omaha, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Mobile, Phoenix, Aurora, and many other large cities regardless of whether the city is located in a red or blue state. Although NYC has a lot to criticize like its taxes, cost of living, congestion, bureaucracy, and uber liberalism, its low violent crime rate should be the envy of even conservatives.

The arrangement of prepositional phrases can be tricky.
no murders reported
Yes, probably double.
Why is it so hard to believe?
1) Conspiracy theories are much more fun.
2) Will all of the crime dramas on TV that take place in NYC, it makes believing that there is never a day without a murder.
It’s quite cold today, but it has been fairly mild in the past week. There is a little snow at the edges of the sidewalks, but we haven’t had much and most of it has melted quickly.
So many honkies......so little time.
