Massachusetts Senate President Stanley Rosenberg is engaged.

A spokesman for the Amherst Democrat confirmed Thursday that Rosenberg is planning to marry his domestic partner, Bryon Hefner. The two have been together since 2009.

The relationship between the 65-year-old Rosenberg and the 27-year-old Hefner briefly became news last year after Hefner allegedly mocked outgoing Senate President Therese Murray on Twitter and boasted about his influence in the Legislature.

That prompted Rosenberg to reassure his Democratic colleagues that he planned to enforce a "firewall" between his personal and professional lives.

Rosenberg was elected by his fellow senators to replace Murray, who stepped down after leading the chamber since 2007. Rosenberg is the first openly gay lawmaker to lead the Senate. He's also the longest-serving member of the upper chamber.

Wait. What about Barney and his boy toy, the one that was growing pot in their digs and a brothel?

This union (or whatever you call it) will not last 180 days. Not that they ever intend to be monogamous during that time anyway.

it is the nature of homosexual relationships (particularly male)

Of course, when it inevitably crashes and burns in mutual recrimination, the news media will not tell you.

Seriously, how can you stand to live in a state like that?

I’d be embarrassed to admit it.

I swear, each week brings more stories even sicker than the previous week.

People do not have any sense of shame these days. No amount of degeneracy embarrasses them.

Homosexuality has existed for centuries, but was never acceptable and remained a very small percentage of the population for the reason of shame and religious taboo.

The likelihood of passing the curse to the progeny of homosexuals was nil - but now the government has approved adoptions and IVF with surrogate female wombs - they will continue to procreate thanks to a meddling medical minority.

I fear the end of humanity as we knew it is already upon us.
