Dad Saw Text on Son’s Phone Reminding Him to Complete Islam Assignment. Then He Opened

A father in Seminole County, Florida, is raising concerns after he discovered a lesson on Islam in his son’s 10th-grade history textbook, a book that is also used by school districts across the state.

In an interview with WFTV, the father, Ron Wagner, read from his son’s history book:

“There is no god, but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God.”

Wagner also claimed that students were told to “recite this prayer as the first Pillar of Islam, off of the board at the teacher’s instruction.”

Wager said he’s not a religious man, but making such a heavily religious lesson “mandatory and part of the curriculum” just “didn’t seem right.” He wasn’t even aware such lessons were being taught until he saw a text on his son’s phone from a teacher — a reminder to complete his prayer rug assignment and study an assigned packet on Islam.

The textbook in question is titled “World History” by publisher Prentice Hall. WFTV has more on the content in the chapter on Islam:

Inside of the book is a chapter dedicated to the “Rise of Islam,” including prayers and scriptures from the Quran. What’s more disturbing for Wagner is that the first 100 pages discussing Judaism and Christianity are missing. The district blames a manufacturer defect in 68 books that are only a year old.

I have no problem about teaching islam at school. I teach at a Christian school and I just finished a couple of days on Buddhism and Hinduism. Christians need to know how to answer these teachings.

Confession:I don’t teach about islam here. We live in largest by population moslem country and it is all around us.

Christians should never fear about learning the tenets of other religions. The Truth will out.

Having said all this, I would never require a student to respond to a question about any of those three in a way it would compromise their Christian walk.

Padlock the government indoctrination centers. It’ll save the kids, and a whole lot of money.

I understood him to say that teaching Christianity and Judaism occurs in earlier classes. I’m curious as to what they do teach regarding Judaism and Christianity. Are the students required to cite prayers, or make alters or design crosses?
____________

Those pages on other religions were the pages that were missing from that particular book.

See list of recent reports of Islam in schools here MA, MS, MD, TN, CA, etc.

Take Christianity out of the schools and something will come in to fill the vacuum.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Don't these parents talk to their kids any more about what they are doing in school?

Do they not tell them to tell them EVERYTHING that the teachers assign that might even be questionable?

Regarding the left’s curious tolerance of radical Islam, despite the fact that Islam’s teachings and progressivism’s ideology are like oil and water:

Traditional, the-Bible-is-actually-true Christianity is, and always has been, the foe to be defeated. Progressives see Muslims the way the Allies saw Stalin (once the latter joined the war) — not at all friends, but useful against a common enemy. Islam stands ready to commit millions of ground troops not merely to subvert, but to extinguish, the Christian foe.

The tragic joke is that the left thinks it can lasso this tornado.

The root of it is that public education is stuffed with educrats that see Christianity as their primary implacable enemy. This they have in common with Islam, and why they continually promote Islam and deprecate and belittle Christianity.

It is intolerance, hatred, and bigotry.

When I was in school our principal routinely said “God bless America”. How far we’ve fallen.
