It does not open up the Constitution to a complete rewrite.

I never said it did. I know what Article V is.

It is simply another means of proposing amendments to the Constitution.

You mean, like the 2nd Amendment, that the Founders included as a means of resisting tyranny? Obama knows what Article V is, too. As I've previously mentioned, he's certainly on board with amending the Constitution.

The States would call for a Convention and appoint those who would participate.

And the moment the left gets wind that their agenda is under threat, do you really think they will keep quiet?

That does not mean that all the amendments would be Conservative in nature

Now you're catching on!

since the delegates would be chosen by the state legislatures and presently 37 of those legislating bodies are Republican controlled

1. You have far too much faith in the GOP, and 2. What makes you think they will vote in your favor? Unless regulations are passed by each state to the contrary, the delegates are under no obligation to vote Conservative.

It is a serious plan to reign in the government over reach.

I agree. BUT - it WON'T be all sunshine and roses, as you guys are touting it to be

Unlike the insanity of espousing open rebellion or holding up in a hole in the ground while the country implodes. That won’t happen.

The Founders espoused open rebellion. Only 3% if the population supported them. I don't plan on holding up in any hole. If it comes down to it, I'll fight to the death for my Country and my rights. If I die in the process, well, at least I can say I actually love my Country and had balls enough to match the Founders legacy.

Apparently, I need to remind you that the Founders were told the VERY same thing you are telling me. They were outnumbered by the most powerful army in the world at the time. There was no way in hell they would ever win.

Well, God works in mysterious ways.

OK. What do you propose? Outright insurgence? Armed rebellion? Terrorist activities against the government? Civil disobedience?

No one is saying that Article 5 is easy. It has never been done. But barring the above, it is our only legitimate option to bloodlessly turn the tide of Federal over reach.

Please, enlighten us with your vast knowledge, or is it ignorance with a healthy dash of self-aggrandizing arrogance.

As far as the Colonists fighting the Crown. The British had the Worlds largest and best military, but was still only wind powered ships and ground troops armed with muskets supported by sword wielding cavalry. They also had the great disadvantage of fighting in a location 3,500 + miles and an Ocean away from their center of power. They where also further troubled by a larger War with their Nemesis France and other rebellions and local problems in far flung regions of their Empire that prevented a truly concerted effort against the Colonists.

You and your ilk would be facing tanks and howitzers, F-35 jets and Navy Seals, and a militarized police force of millions based only dozens of miles if not only a few blocks from your bunker.

In all politeness I call Bologna!
I highly doubt you will go down fighting. If you do I assure you it will be a whimper and barely registered if registered at all. I doubt you will be remembered as the modern day Pompeii and your pontificating would hardly remind one of Cicero.
I would expect your quick surrender after the authorities disconnected you from the local power grid and waited until you used all your fuel stock piles on your portable generator. Once your ice cream melted for lack of electric power, you would give up. Regardless, all your pontifications are little more than empty bluster, whereas there is an actual Conservative movement to impanel an Article 5 Convention of the States.
Perhaps you could put your energies into pushing your elected representatives at the State level to vote for it and then lobby for real amendments that would make a difference. Simply repealing the 17th amendment would eliminate many of our problems.
