Despite President Obama’s claim on Monday that he has not yet made a decision about supplying defensive weapons to the Ukrainian army, which is battling Russia-backed separatists who want an independent region within that country, the Russian media is full of predictions. They’re warning of the terrible impact further U.S. involvement in the conflict might have.

Quoting a member of the Russian Defense Ministry's public advisory board who requested anonymity, The Moscow Times reported Monday that if the U.S. supplied arms to Ukraine, it would be viewed as an act of war. That action would not only increase the tension in the region, it would also force the Kremlin to “respond asymmetrically against Washington or its allies on other fronts,” the publication reported.

"We can also encourage Iran, or even back Iran in a fight — a military operation — with Saudi Arabia, so then the prices for oil will skyrocket," the source said.

Any Russian premier would defend Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, this isn’t about Putin. Russia hasn’t invaded Crimea, they are refusing to leave the place they’ve colonized for the last two centuries.

"How do you define losing this escalation?"

Well, I was specifically referring to Ukraine, but with the law of unintended consequences you're right. Anything goes. As they said in 'No Country for Old Men', even a contest between man and steer the issue can be in doubt.

Could be that one needs to realize that this is a conflict between two oil interests - Saudi and Russia. Do you really want the USA to be the ‘bought’ mercenary in this conflict?

Our politicians no longer belong to us - they have been bought by Middle-east interests and China.

We elected a president with no diplomatic experience and no military experience.

He selected a Secretary of State, (who after 28 years in Congress authored ONE piece of legislation - Dolphin-Free tuna), was named the worst diplomat ever.

This is what happens.

Perhaps we can send James Taylor to Moscow.

I’m surprised he’s unmasking himself here (Putin). This has been the plan from the get go. It was the plan during the Afghanistan adventure in the 1980s.

Russia’s wanted the KSA for a long time. They can’t compete with them as a petro-state. If Russia had Iran and the KSA in its axis, they would be able to run the table on Europe.

We’re looking at the next major dictator in Putin.

Germany has gone full Chamberlain, which is ironic because if you tried to explain it to her, you’d likely end up using Hitler’s push in to Austria and Poland as your primary examples.

France has frackable assets, but Hollande ran against fracking. Bet he wished he wasn’t anti-fracking right now.

Sounds like something Obama would do (or is doing).
