It was abundantly clear that neither had any clue or resolve about anything. This press conference was a display of weakness personified.
Gary Varvel said it best:
“Putin come back here or I’ll be forced to issue a condemnation!”
Yup, a condemnation.
That’ll hurt Putin’s feelings alright. NOT!
Nobody defends Obama here.
It is quite possible to hate Obama as well as Putin.
If Obama did one tenth of the things Reagan did, I’d have no complaints.
I simply don’t have a dog in this fight.
Good.
Are you for reversing his sequestration of our military?
Words mean nothing without the power to back them up.
Then leash your dog.
"I dont understand the Russophobe FR crowds defense of the man."
The hell you say. Who does he think he is? You?
When it comes to Russia there is the Bear and there is Obama.
Where’s the Eagle?
” I wonder how Merkel felt listening to him.”
Who cares? Merkel is a turd too....slobbering over muslims : )
"A treaty is just a scrap of paper." "Who compels us to keep the promises we make?"
The US government has effectively told the EU that we'll provide overt military aid to the Ukraine unless the EU imposes economic sanctions on Russia which will be effectively fatal for Putin's regime. Obama told the Euros to put up or shut up and live with the consequences.
They can either cease funding Russian military aggression or they can have a hot war on their doorstep. And it is a Democratic Presidential Admnistration rubbing the Europeans' noses in it.
I am truly surprised to see Obama, of all people, doing this.
You forget that for many of us our military service was largely, or even almost entirely based, on defending this nation from Russia.
Russia's collapse in the early 90s has not ended history, nor changed Russia, it was merely a set back for them. Remember that we didn't defeat them in open battle and occupy them and do what we did in Japan and Germany, so they are still who they were, they just need to rebuild and enslave and conquer their way back to military power.
Why does it matter?
So Obama has discovered the strong do as they please and the weak suffer as they must.
He’s rediscovering human nature.
But he still doesn’t understand “soft power” isn’t enough to keep the world safe.
Merkel isn’t shuttling between capitals for nothing.
Whatever message she was bringing to Obama, he obviously rejected it. Her body language at the presser said a lot, especially when Obama began vamping.
Obama won’t do a thing.
No one trusts him.
Your idiotic statement is exactly why you fail to comprehend Obama.
He could give two hoots about our enemies.
So you want us to take a harder line against Putin, be more aggressive?
If you mean autonomy for Ukraine, well without it there will be no deal.
And from Putin’s perspective, he can live with it and dump the Ukraine mess in the West’s lap.
“To get at the goodies you have to break the egg”, Joe Stalin CCCP!
Obama doesn’t mind ISIS getting a hold of stingers and M1A1 tanks, but a sovereign country that has been invaded can’t get a few Javelins?
You’re advocating it.
Either put up or as you like to say shut up.
That about sums it up.
The difference is Obama is no JFK and Putin is no Nikita Khruschev.
