The "no difference" theory is dead

Fresh research has just tossed a grenade into the incendiary issue of same-sex parenting. Writing in the British Journal of Education, Society & Behavioural Science, a peer-reviewed journal, American sociologist Paul Sullins concludes that children’s “Emotional problems [are] over twice as prevalent for children with same-sex parents than for children with opposite-sex parents”.

He says confidently: “it is no longer accurate to claim that no study has found children in same-sex families to be disadvantaged relative to those in opposite-sex families.”

This defiant rebuttal of the “no difference” hypothesis is sure to stir up a hornet’s next as the Supreme Court prepares to trawl through arguments for and against same-sex marriage. It will be impossible for critics to ignore it, as it is based on more data than any previous study -- 512 children with same-sex parents drawn from the US National Health Interview Survey. The emotional problems included misbehaviour, worrying, depression, poor relationships with peers and inability to concentrate.

After crunching the numbers, Sullins found opposite-sex parents provided a better environment. “Biological parentage uniquely and powerfully distinguishes child outcomes between children with opposite-sex parents and those with same-sex parents,” he writes.

As he points out, this has immense implications for public policy. The Elton John/David Furnish model of lavishing love and licorice on the offspring of surrogate mothers won’t do. Throwing down the gauntlet before supporters of same-sex marriage, Sullins contends that “the primary benefit of marriage for children, therefore, may not be that it tends to present them with improved parents (more stable, financially affluent, etc, although it does this), but that it presents them with their own parents.”

So, what's the Supreme Court going to do about this?

So, what's the Supreme Court going to do about this?

Here's what liberals typically do:

1) Hear truth

2) Defy truth, deny truth, scoff and denounce the messengers

3) Assert fantasies about how things should be, according to them

4) Pass laws enacting fantasy beliefs and punishing truth-believers

The Supreme Court is a joke, and I’m not trying to make a joke, here.

Really, look at the collection of losers currently on the bench.

‘Twould be like Dan Rather, Katie Bimbo-ic, and Baba Wawa being in the Cal Tech Physics Department.

We know that the court will say, I only wish we would finally say “we don’t give a **** what you say, you can’t make us do what you want us to do.”

I believe any proper, scientifically produced survey which includes peer reviews, will reveal similar results. Same sex couples’ adoption and rearing of children is so contrary to nature as well as the psychology of child growth and parenting there is no way anything positive can possibly be said, IMO.

Probably nothing.

For what it’s worth, I know a young man raised by a lesbian couple (I worked with one of them & became friends). They did a terrific job, & he is now happily married with two kids & running a successful business. On the other hand, I know plenty of folks raised in traditional families who are just total messes.

I would certainly agree that being raised by a homosexual couple isn’t optimal, but there are plenty of sub-optimal situations out there. Some people will come through okay & others won’t.

You missed the big one. The problems of these children will be blamed on intolerance and bullying leading to massive new initiatives in schools, movies, TV etc to promote acceptance.

The Scientific Method for Liberals:

  1. Draw your conclusions.
  2. Cherrypick data which supports said conclusions.
  3. Discard data which does not.
  4. If insufficient data can be found to support the conclusions, then manufacture it.
  5. Repeat the conclusions as if they are facts.
  6. If that doesn't work, then repeat steps 1-5 as often as necessary.

We are not allowed to discuss differences in parenting. We are not allowed to say that children do best with their biological father and mother raising them in the same home as an intact family.

We are not allowed to discuss this because, per liberal criteria, you are being hateful and discriminatory if you say certain types of parents are better for children.

That’s the politically correct world we live in. Dan Quayle was pilloried for observing that the entertainment business pushed single motherhood in a TV show. He was attacked as being hateful and insensitive to single mothers.

I’ve heard similar attacks whenever anyone questions homosexual parenting or homosexual adoption.

We live in a world in which the issue itself, in this case who rases children, can’t be discussed because someone’s liberal feelings will be hurt. Instead we end up with food fights about whether someone is bigoted or have to listen to liberals bitch about how some intact families are not ideal for some reason. Then we are told we must allow homosexual parenting because some intact families and biological parents have flaws...

Just wait for the 3 parent child.!

This argument about replacement of defective genes from one parent with good ones from a third parent is a red herring.
This is all about a distorted, screwy, social definition of what constitutes ‘marriage’.
These people give no thought to the problems they are creating, it’s only about their self-gratification. Be damned the consequences.

It is worth 1/512 of the scientific study discussed above. It is a single data point.

I know people raised by abusive parents that turned out OK. It doesn’t mean abusive parents are as good as non-abusive parents.

Remember when the brain-dead lib mags (such as TIME, etc) claimed there was no difference between males and females?

And then they had their “no, wait” moment?

I find it amazing how it’s always the left that claims that we conservatives are “anti science”.

Always always remember, that journalists are there because they are too stupid to even be politicians.

And we all know how stupid politicians are.

Too late. The die is cast. Long since - unless an Article V convention proposes a State Repeal Amendment and the states ratify it. Then there may yet be a chance.

Recall that it was justice Kennedy who said that not overturning CAs proposition limiting marriage to the opposite sex would hurt those same kids, forcing gay marriage on states is good for the kids of gays.

‘Kids of gays’ ???

Luke 17

1 Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
