This has been a difficult few days for all of us at NBC News.
Yesterday, Brian and I spoke to the Nightly News team. And this morning at the Editorial Exchange, we both addressed the wider group. Brian apologized once again, and specifically expressed how sorry he is for the impact this has had on all of you and on this proud organization.

He apparently only completed 18 college credits in 4 years at 3 colleges: a local community college, Catholic University of America, and George Washington University. I’d say he’s not the sharpest crayon in the box.
He also credits some of his luck in life to his ability to position himself in the right place at the right time; like at the top of the stairs to the Basilica at CUA where he claims he shook the Pope’s hand. IOW he’s an opportunist.
First Brian Williams, now Rosie O’Donnell.

An opportunist of the first order...it’s no accident that Williams spends more time on social media—and makes more talk show appearances—than any other news anchor. He truly craves the limelight and the power that goes with his position. Williams would do anything to enhance his position and that trait is going to destroy his career.

When one's agenda is deceit-based, lies are necessary and comfortable. They become so ingrained that one will tell a lie even when the truth would work perfectly well. I would guess that they worry when they discover they have uttered the truth when a lie would have done just fine...
