LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) Cal State L.A. parents and students are voicing their shock after learning students fees were set to fund an event about sex toys, before CBS2 questioned administrators about the plans.
An upset parent first made us aware of the event, revealing her 18-year-old daughter brought home a flyer promoting Sex Toys R Us.
University administrators say they didnt know the nature of the event until CBS2s inquiries and subsequently decided to call it off.
It is shocking when you see it, student Laura Maturino said after looking at a copy of the black-and-white flier for the Feb. 11 event promoting handcuffs, swings and #PlayTimeAtCalStateLA.
The university confirms the event, planned by its Gender and Sexuality Resource Center in partnership with a L.A. adult store, was slated to use money from fees meant for student activities, clubs and events.

Northwestern University Cancels Human Sexuality Class After Explicit Sex Toy Demonstration
This is bad but then again, these days, I think I’d rather have my kids learn about sex toys in college rather than the garbage that they teach in some of the other classes.
The people forsook the Lord God to serve Asherah and her husband Baal
We have a winner!
“......Colleges around the country are struggling to meet higher demands for psychological and crisis counseling, heightened by fears that their campuses could face incidents of violence and suicide.
The survey, which was taken by 153,000 students mainly during last summer’s orientations at 227 four-year colleges, bolstered those concerns. Nearly 12% of the freshmen rated their mental health as worse than most others their age; that compared with roughly 7% about a decade ago and 3.5% in 1985, when the question was first asked. In addition, 9.5% said they frequently felt depressed, up from the 6% low point, recorded in 2009.
“This is signaling that students are bringing with them some emotional struggles, some mental health issues” and those issues could make it harder for students to stay in school and earn a college degree, said Eagan, who is an assistant professor of education at UCLA.....”

And yet some idiot started a thread about how we need to eliminate community colleges!
Toys R Us should sue them for $1 billion.
That’d keep them busy for a while.
Those students are not being honest with themselves.
The mental health of 50% of them is worse than that of their peers.
re: Toys R Us should sue them for $1 billion.
Absolutely! I can think of a lot of other companies that have sued because of the use of their name. This misuse of the name is the worst ever. I hope they sue anyway, even though the event was canceled.
My RN step-mother, in the early 1960s, got her BS degree at LA State (to allow her to work in schools). Trying to immagine Edythe’s response to such.
I have no problem with consenting adults using whatever legal means they want to give themselves or their partners pleasure. It does not however, seem necessary to help them figure out what they want; this should be plain to each individual by about the age of fifteen.
At the certain risk of being a huge buzz-kill, I think of greater value to everyone would be a course centered on Home Depot/Lowes showing them how to use paint, wallboard, basic plumbing/carpentry/roofing/electrical work etc. Most folks can figure out how to pleasure themselves w/o a college course.

Good points!

Most teachers/profs have no clue about those practical skills.
Frequently, colleges do not give a wit about what parents think; school employs *in loco parentis* and tells parents that the student/offspring is an adult, and to bugger off. I’m surprised the parents were included in the *discussion*.
