This statement of Rand Paul, graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine, came the same day that Chris Christie said that parents should have "a measure of choice" in whether children are vaccinated.

If there are no public “schools”, this whole issue will be a moot point as diseased children will remain home and not infect the rest.

And then the private schools(the only remaining schools) can mandate, as businesses, whether or not they require vaccinations as part of the enrollment requirement. Those who do not want to vaccinate their kids can go to private schools that don’t require. Those who do, go where they require. Very simple.

Now I know he’s a nut.

Did Rand Paul ever see the ravages of measles encephalitis? How it can destroy a formerly bright child’s brain? We saw a lot of it before the vaccine was developed.

Rand Paul needs to go back to med school.

Pandering to the wackos on the left, and unfortunately the many wackos on the right, that believe this unscientific BS.

Parents do have choice.

Those who don’t vaccinate their kids for measles are making the wrong choice.

Dr Paul is a loony.

Perhaps they are positioning themselves in regards to this six month old announcement.

In 1918 approximately five percent of the entire Earth’s population died from the flu. Five percent. One out of twenty.

Go away, Rand.

My concern is that those for years who have quietly gone about not vaccinating their kids, with absolutely no harm to anyone, now have themselves in the spotlight.

However, on the up side - this gives them the chance to tell the ‘other side of the story,’ when asked.

Libs...controlling the argument as usual. Turn it around on THEM. Ask them why Obama dumped illegals around the country who I am pretty sure were NOT vaccinated for anything.

Idunno about vaccines, but just for fun sometime, listen carefully to the litany of "possible side effects" of whatever pharmaceutical is being advertised, and be reminded that there are people walking around right now who take that drug and just might have those side effects.

Here's one that jumped out at me recently:

Some people have had changes in behavior, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or actions while using CHANTIX to help them quit smoking. Some people had these symptoms when they began taking CHANTIX, and others developed them after several weeks of treatment or after stopping CHANTIX. If you, your family or caregiver notice agitation, hostility, depression or changes in behavior, thinking, or mood that are not typical for you, or you develop suicidal thoughts or actions, anxiety, panic, aggression, anger, mania, abnormal sensations, hallucinations, paranoia or confusion, stop taking CHANTIX and call your doctor right away. Also tell your doctor about any history of depression or other mental health problems before taking CHANTIX, as these symptoms may worsen while taking CHANTIX....

continued

Where does parental control (as opposed to governmental control) come into this equation?

Paul is dead to me. Vaccination quackery is a bellwether for kookiness.

Thank god Walker and Carson aren't cranks on this.

Dr. Rand Paul: Vaccines Can Lead to 'Mental Disorders'

So, apparently, can being elected the junior senator from Tennessee.

It is time for vaccination processes to get better. Take out the risky elements, and screen kis at risk before getting the vaccine.

Screening can restore parents’ trust.

There are vaccine caused problems. First, do no harm.

(Vaccines have also saved many lives. They are a clear public good, now we need to make them a clear individual good.)

I have an idea. How about people quit arguing about it and take a different tact that satisfies all.

Change the ingredient complained about in the vaccine to something else.

One thing for sure, we would find out after time if the rate of autism went down.
