If last years experience at Grant High School is any guide, news that a Florin High School student recently tested positive for tuberculosis may spark a worrisome period of months of testing larger pools of students and school staff for TB.

"Travelers"? How about illegal aliens?
More “gifts” to America from the undocumented Tyrant’s
quartering-in-secrecy of criminal illegals,
all enabled by 113th US Congress who loved the
undocumented Moslem Indonesian King who made THEM EXEMPT.
well groomed travelers with their...samsonite luggage smiling faces...and exciting destinations....
clearly TB material..
Pray for a TURNAROUND!
I’d pull my kids out of school and homeschool them from now on; all the influx of illegal immigrant, unvaccinated kids coming into the public school system is going to—not likely to, but GOING TO—cause an epidemic of several not only serious but deadly diseases, killing off a vast portion of the young of this country. And the fact that there are many legal citizen-parents of this country who have decided not to have their children vaccinated is going to turn into a nightmare as well.
As far as I am concerned, the illegal immigration situation is not only an attack on our sovereignty and allows for terrorists to very easily gain access to us, it is also going to be a biological terror attack that the thing that occupies the WH (TOWH) is unleashing on the United States of America. It is an Act of High Treason, and as such TOWH, along with its administration, should be removed from office, taken into custody, removed to Gitmo, incarcerated, interrogated, and left to sit out the rest of their natural lives.
TDRTB: Totally Drug Resistant Tuberculosis. Scary stuff. Brought here by foreigners.
“Travelers”? How about illegal aliens?
Perhaps this is the new PC way of dodging true origins of such diseases as TB.
Grant is one county north of where I live. Several years ago I worked for a doctor here when we had an influx of Haitian refugees. I noticed that their tests always came back positive for TB. I thought then that we needed to bring back the TB titer tests in schools. So this does not surprise me at all.
There have only been two outbreaks of Completely Drug Resistant TB, both in India, and everyone who was infected died.
Tuberculosis (DR/MDR/XDR/CDR)
The vast majority of TB cases are “ordinary” TB, that is responsive to antibiotics. A small minority of cases are Drug Resistant. Multiple Drug Resistant and eXtremely Drug Resistant have been detected and dealt with just a few times in the US.
And nationally, there is no faster way to be put in isolated confinement than to be diagnosed with MDR TB. Such a diagnosis does not require a court order; nor can the individual claim Habeus Corpus.
Florin? Are they not the sworn enemies of Gilder?
Oh shoot I misread that as Grant High School in Florida. Never mind.
I never understood why TB testing wasn’t routine in public schools throughout the US, as it was when I was a kid. Every year the kids lined up for their vaccines, head louse check, and tb test. Docs and nurses lined the hallways, ready with their needles and exams. A permission note was sent home prior to the exams, and students brought them back, signed, to school.
We can’t do this anymore because?????
Here’s something blowing my mind. Most kids are vaccinated from birth, on. Very few take an exemption from that. Vaccinated kids should be resistant to any of these so-called outbreaks! The average kid should NOT be getting measles, but they are! What’s wrong with that picture?
It shouldn’t matter if some kids aren’t vaccinated. The disease should be very localized and contained within the non-vaccinated group. Once a kid gets the actual disease, they are now immune to the disease, and can no longer spread it.
But the problem isn’t among the non-vaccinated, it’s among those who WERE! Why are we having to protect vaccinated kids from non-vaccinated kids? This absolutely does NOT make any sense!
You would think that if a kid has been vaccinated, then actual contact with the disease should act as a ‘booster’ shot.
why isn’t that happening?
These big outbrakes shouldn’t be happening. But they are and that tells me one thing. That the vaccines aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, and that kids are put at double risk. One, through the known dangerous side effects of the vaccine, and two, through the fact that the vaccines do NOT protect kids from the actual disease, therefore they’re getting sick ANYWAY!
And TB isn’t one that we have a vaccine for. That has to be checked from year to year, because you have NO idea who the contact person is. If you’re going to prevent the disease which is what the treatment does, you have to begin that treatment before the actual disease breaks out.
I’m seeing a bunch of articles out there that don’t make any sense. Either they’re poorly written due to the lack of journalistic skills of the reporter, or they are deliberately obfuscating the truth. And why would obfuscating the truth even be considered?
If you want to find out how well vaccines really protect children, the real disease will show you that. There is a $$$ trail there.
dearie, nobama made sure his kids, upon entering these United States of America, were disease free crossing the border. HOW? He, the master of deceit waved his wand from where ever he was campaigning at that time. (sarc)
I have long expected TB outbreaks since Obama allowed all those illegal kids to enter the US and be placed around the country. I would bet this outbreak can be traced to one of the illegals from south of the border.
Caught atypical TB in my late Twenties. Was coughing and breaking ribs. Milwaukee General put me in it’s TB Ward. Was there for a long time before they figured out it was Atypical, and that I probably caught it gardening, and that I wasn’t contagious. I lost everything I had.
Mark your calendar, the plague is kicking up in Madagascar and will be arriving here soon enough.
Caught it gardening? How?
“Atypical tuberculosis is form of lung disease resembling tuberculosis that is caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). These are bacteria in the Mycobacterium family that are not the casual agent of tuberculosis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, or leprosy. There are a number of other species in this family that individuals are exposed to on a daily basis. Atypical tuberculosis generally afflicts people with compromised immune systems and is increasingly being seen in post-menopausal women. The disorder is extremely difficult to diagnose, and treatment can involve years of therapy with multiple antibiotics that can have severe side affects.
Another term for this disorder is mycobacteria other than tuberculosis (MOTT), or environmental mycobacteria. This group of bacteria is unusual in having a thick cell wall composed of materials that make them resistant to most antibiotics and disinfectant measures. The mycobacteria can generally survive in difficult conditions and are found throughout the environment in streams, marshes, and even in chlorinated water. The organisms are not spread from one individual to another, but are acquired from the environment through drinking, breathing, or contact with soil.”
Thanks.
Those type of diseases are very hard to diagnose because unlike other bacteria, TB and related bacteria grow very slowly. This means they have to prescribe one kind of antibiotics, and wait a while to see if it works; then if it doesn’t, a different antibiotic, etc.
It was made worse because it is hard to tell if the bacteria is alive or not. Then not too long ago, so student found an old kind of stain that is absorbed by living bacteria, but not dead ones. Really speeded up diagnosis.
“”Travelers”? How about illegal aliens?””
A few years back some politician in CO (may not be correct state) said that those people just lost their way while traveling through the state! NO KIDDING!!!
