France Sending Tanks To Poland

France is pledging tanks and armored vehicles to bolster NATO forces in Poland, where leaders are increasingly uneasy about Russia.

Poland is on the front against Russia again, but this time we are there.

Yes, it is a return to the 1980s. What do people think of this new confrontation with Russia? There were predictions, back in the 90s, that NATO’s expansion eastward would eventually bring conflict with Russia, and it appears that is now on the cards. But in international terms, what interest does it serve?

Remember when Romney said during the debates that Russia was the greatest foreign policy threat and Obama, probably had rehearsed this line, said the 1980s are calling and they want their foreign policy back.

Turns out that Romney may not have been so far off and as usual Obama didn’t know what he was talking about.

Russia should be free to expand west, though.

Explain how it relates to these candidates.

It’s a good MBT. The french claim it has better armor than the M1A2 Abrams. Late model Leopard 2s have been upgraded significantly. The French tanks carry a 120mm canon, but the ammunition is not compatible with that used by the Abrams, Leopard 2, and Ariete.
