A decision to ban oil and gas drilling on state land in Pennsylvania was met with praise and criticism, with an industry leader describing it as a "lose-lose."
Louis D'Amico, president and executive director of the Pennsylvania Independent Oil & Gas Association, said the moratorium struck a blow against an industry that's already returned more than $700 million in revenue to the state in the last seven years.
"This is a lose-lose for Pennsylvania's taxpayers and energy consumers," he said in a statement Thursday.

Stupid is as stupid does...
Those voters got just what they selected.
Fulfilling a campaign pledge, Gov. Tom Wolf signed an order Thursday banning new drilling leases on public land...

Wolf, who also campaigned on a pledge to impose a 5 percent extraction tax on natural gas drilling to raise money for public schools and other programs, reiterated that he wants the gas industry to thrive in the state but with appropriate environmental safeguards.
Yeah, but Tom Corbett didn’t defend Joe Paterno and Penn State!! So we needed to vote in Fidel Castro’s brother Tom Wolf!
Elections have consequences.
Wow.
The Wolf is inside the building.
This guy ever hear of Pennzoil?
Now the rest of the state will be Pennsyljersey.
Stupid, stupid people.
Royalty recipients get free money from a private enterprize that does NOT want anything more from you than to drill a hole a half mile under your garden.
The government also wants to give you money but wants your children, your bank account, your subservience, and a few more et cetera's
I wonder if Louis would consider a little drilling in Ohio. My family owned land, with known gas reserves, on the edge of The Cuyahoga Valley Reserve. Sold the land to the park, but retained mineral rights. Not sure how they managed that, but Uncle Eddy was a sharp operator. We’ve had a couple companies sniffing around. Would require angle drilling from just outside the Park, but quite doable.
I'm sorry. This is FreeRepublic.com.
I'm certain he meant "loose-loose".
Idiots like the governor would think nothing of erecting hundreds of useless windmills marring the landscape though.
Wolfie wants to ban it and tax it at the same time?
Mike Savage is right about one thing for sure: Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Don’t forget planting more corn to fill our gas tanks.
It will drive up the cost to lease from private landowners. If the market holds, supply and demand will allow the lease money to flow to rural PA individuals instead of the Philadelphia collective.
Just like the political decisions in NY, with crashing gas and oil prices, no one is going to do much new drilling anyway, so why not appease one’s leftist base??
It WILL be one or the other
OT Rant: 0bama’s hatred for coal is going to strangle Wisconsin. I hope the next President can get all of that reversed.
Electricity is going to be ungodly expensive for us if coal is basically ‘outlawed.’ We get 62% of our electricity from coal!!
PA got exactly what they deserved when they dumped Corbett for Wolf. He’s an idiot. I’m a PSU alumnus, but am convinced it is a thoroughly corrupt institution. The university and town of State College are run by and for a corrupt oligarchy. The Sandusky thing was the tip of the iceberg. The DA who disappeared had all the dirt on Paterno and the rest of these reprobates. He paid for it with his life. There’s no lie they will not tell and no crime they will not commit.
