George Zimmerman assault case dropped; ex-girlfriend recants

An aggravated assault case against George Zimmerman that was opened when his ex-girlfriend said he threw a wine bottle at her has been dropped because she recanted her story and stopped cooperating with investigators, a prosecutor said Friday.

State Attorney Phil Archer said he wouldn’t file a formal charge against Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch leader who was acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin. The killing of the unarmed black teen touched off protests across the country.

The ex-girlfriend had made it clear she didn’t want to cooperate with Lake Mary Police officers, and there were no other eyewitnesses to what happened earlier this month, Archer said.

“While it is clear that the officers had probable cause to arrest Mr. Zimmerman … the subsequent recantation by the victim of her initial statement … precludes my office from proceeding further,” Archer said in a statement. …

Well, as long as Obama, Eric Holder (and, undoubtedly, his replacement at DOJ), Al Sharpton, the national mainstream media, ‘RATS everywhere and his local black police chief (appointed right after his white predecessor was unjustly fired and run out of town) continue their never ending campaign to paint him as Satan, yes you’ll see him again.

They are getting kinda desperate to find something....anything to pin on him to justify that characterization. And, unfortunately, some FReepers also try to participate in the demonization whenever given the opportunity.

That’s OK, we understand. Many sufferers of Palin Derangement Syndrome also suffer from Zimmerman Derangement Syndrome. Sufferers of these syndromes are mindlessly driven in their beliefs.

There is no proof to be had either way in a he said she said situation, and you most certainly did not provide proof. What you provided was proof to satisfy you. What is clear, is that this woman does not want to be identified. Following through with the allegations would prohibit her from not being named. I believe that was her motivation to recant. I see a pattern with George developing. Either women are out to destroy him, or George is losing it. In my opinion I think George is losing it. Admittedly that is my opinion, however, the other scenario could be that case. To me the issue is not worth arguing over. To George it is everything. I feel for George, but considering what he has been through, and unfairly so I might add, it would not surprise me that he is starting to lose it. I even think I would be starting to lose it as well. I think George should try to sue all of the news outlets that tried his case in the court of public opinion.

And most cruelly of all: self-proclaimed 'conservative' Freepers will disown you.

I haven't "disowned" him.My point is...I've never been mistaken for a rocket scientist...I've never been accused of being a genius.I am,at *best*,of average intelligence. So if *I* can figure out how to do it,why can't he?

Kudos for coming onto the thread and apologising like a man.

Oh wait.

You didn’t apologise. In fact you doubled down on your crazy vituperation.

Maybe the next time someone fits GZ up, it’ll stick! Is that what you’re hoping for?

Well, he’s not going to jail today. Once again: George Zimmerman is blameless. If that annoys you then I suggest you think carefully about how you’re living your life.

He needs to change his name, get plastic surgery, start riding a bike, and stop getting involved with women.

Zimmerman has been one lucky dude...so far.

I don't think that is accurate unless you believe he beat a murder charge for which he committed. I am willing to bet if he could relive that night all over. Instead of intervening, he instead uses his cell phone to document what Trayvon did and testified only against Trayvom in court.

Let’s agree that George should indeed be suing people left and right, and wish him well.

You dobpn’t have ecery liveral in the country after your ass for revenge. Thats the difference.

Did she call the cops on him?

Or were the cops sitting outside when she left, chased her down, arrested her, and then dropped the charges for a shot at Z.

Is he still disarmed by court order? Or did he get his guns back.

Sounds like a plan. Of course his lawyers past & present will see the money and he will still be left penniless. I just hope he can start to find some peace. For that I think he needs to relocate, although I'm not sure his name hasn't become a familiar one worldwide.

BTW, that presumed innocent until proven guilty has always been a fable. If it weren't you wouldn't need to put up bail to get out of jail until your trial. As far as the system is concerned you are guilty until a jury finds you innocent. Even then you can be vilified in the press for the remainder of your life.

The group or groups trying to get him put away regardless of the Trayvon murder trial verdict just haven't been smart enough to do it yet. He's practically helping them, though, with his own bad decisions. I'm sure Darren Wilson is on their hit list, too.

So now provide me with proof that she lied.

Nope, that's not the way it works.

The (presumably ex-) girlfriend has recanted. Therefore, she has admitted that she didn't tell the truth.

The burden of proof is ON YOU to prove otherwise.

"Hearing the sound of glass shattering" doesn't prove anything. It may have been an accident, or the ex-girlfriend may have broken something. Or, there might have been an unnamed third party at the scene.

Without testimony, you have nothing. And as agere has noted, the burden is on you for jumping to conclusions.

The burden of proof is ON YOU to prove otherwise.

Another armchair lawyer.

There is no burden on me regarding this case at all. He has the right to his opinion just as I have my right to my opinion, as you have the right to your opinion. Also, if I have to prove my opinion then I proclaim you have to also provide proof for your opinion. This is not a court of law, and I am not a prosecutor. That she recanted is not proof that she is a liar, for her motivation may be trying to keep name from being known. By recanting, her name escapes being printed by the news outlets. Now if you have intimate knowledge about this case, then provide it, otherwise, you are just demanding I accept your opinion and I'm afraid that is not going to happen.
