Not long after 9-11 I heard a Christian theologian who was reared in Islam say that Islam is stone-age Mormonism. He went on to enumerate all the similarities. It seems the enemy has a limited playbook. He finds a formula that works on fallen men and he employs it time and again. That’s probably why false religions from unconnected people groups worldwide share so many similarities. The same demonic spirits are behind their false gods, beliefs, and symbols.
And Mormonism, with its sola ecclesia model, prophet-popes, distinct priesthood, and extraBiblical revelation, is much more akin to Catholicism than evangelical Protestantism. It even taught of a heavenly Mother.
