May not be 100% what conservatives want, but hey, Keystone bill cleared both the senate and house. Never could happen during Harry Reed as ML. No one should expect to win 100% in political world.

You are correct about that, but the pipeline, although great, is not crucial. What I think is crucial is stopping Obama, such as his amnesty decree, health care, etc. Not to mention all the hideous scandals he has perpetuated. Passing that budget is basically unforgivable—they colluded on that with Obama. I don’t think Reid was even involved in that.

I get sick of hearing that excuse. If it were true, why have confirmation hearings?

....” Keystone bill cleared both the senate and house”....
So what were the backdoor deals to get this passed? What are our guys now going to give them in return?

I don’t sense good things about this at all.

I will take a Keystone pipeline bill with some pork thrown in versus no pipeline at all.

I’m not convinced this pipeline is a good thing at all....when you look at the particulars we get nothing for it except short term jobs..and most of those will be to contractors who move around the states anyway..with their own crews.

Plus if there’s a spill...we have to bay the millions to clean it up...and the oil’s being shipped abroad.

I’ve looked at the costs and the stats from both sides of the equation....it’s not panning out the way they make claims of by any means.

Convince me otherwise?

You are correct about number of permanent jobs. But immediate benefit is a kick in the azz for this weak main street economy in construction jobs. Long term, we get benefit of more and cheaper energy source which is always good for industrial competitive position over other countries, especially Europe, China, India, SE Asia who all must buy energy fuels from outside.

On the spill aspect, there are thousands of miles of pipelines all over the country already with excellent safety record. I think we hear more about train mishaps, which is the alternate method of oil transport.

I already posted the spill that happened in 2010 in Michigan.... and the billions to clean it up and it’s still not done....that’s three years ago already.

The alternative for Canada is to put the pipeline on their own border...but of course the Canadian people already ‘voted against that... which is why the offer for it to go thru our country....

They can still take it by train across their own country...thus we don’t deal with their stuff.

We don’t need Canadaa to kick us in the butt to put construction workers to work here.....we could do that just by getting ‘our infrastructure’ where it needs to be...that’s a win win for us all...

Our bridges and our utilites, roads etc. are an embarrassment when you look at other developed countries...and this congress has known it for a long wile.

We get nothing from Canada’s oil being piped thru here...it’s ALL going abroad.........let’s ship our own oil abroad rather than theirs.

You still aren’t convincing me this Keystone Pipeline is good for us when we have so much other work and projects needing done right here in our country.

Difference between Keystone pipeline and other infrastructure projects:

Keystone is self supporting. Not much taxpayer spending. The revenues from transporting oil will pay for it. Bridges, roads etc. are all directly charged to tax payers.

You are correct about state of our infrastructure. I was in SE Asia last year and the infrastructure in Singapore makes ours look like third world.

But what you do not understand is we are a broke country. We are spending $10 Billion every day of the year. And our gov’t BORROWS $1.37 Billion every day to make ends meet.
