I like to think they notice and enjoy the difference between their former lives and now.
If not, then at least for the present, better enjoy more room to move.
It always feels better whenever it quits hurting, whatever if is.

No, but I did meet “EZ Buddy” who was a ball python that belonged to my brother.
He did exactly that.
He, uh, crushed one of his mice under a rock we had in his enclosure, then ate the pulped mouse.
Guess who got elected to remove the blunt trauma weapon from the snek terrortory?
Me.
(Buddy had a habit of “knocking” when he wanted something. And that mouse thought it was hiding when Buddy did that with the rock. Ooops. Buddy was happy about it though.)

Very true.
I do so like to spoil my critters.
They enjoy seem to enriched environments more than a stupid tub with just a water bowl in it.
