My Problem with Sarah Palin

With Sarah Palin once again hinting at a presidential run, pundits and politics wonks are all the more aflutter with 2016 talk. The predictable slings and arrows of the surly left are coming her way, while her excited fans are firing up the troops. Then there are those who say that while they like the ex-governor, they don’t believe she could win the presidency. My focus, however, is a bit different: I have an objection to Palin -- one relating to something of which most are unaware.

Before getting to that, please indulge me as I ask a few questions that establish where we all stand. Are you adamantly pro-life, or might your position change if (as in polling) the question is framed as a woman’s “right to choose”? Do you stand foursquare against amnesty, or could you be persuaded to accept a “path to citizenship” for illegals? Do you uphold the proper and only definition of marriage, or have the unrelenting attacks on tradition worn you down to a point where you might conclude, “Well, none of this affects me, anyway”?

If you’re unwavering on all those issues, as I am, you’re a real Sarah Palin conservative.

Or are you?

You see, I’m pretty sure how Palin would answer those questions -- and one answer is a real problem.

On October 26, 2008, Palin had an interview with Jorge Ramos of Spanish-language network Univision. She was asked about amnesty: “So you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?”

Her answer: “I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here.

Obama was elected twice.

Right. Obama was never presidential material. But you must know that the Left is allowed a far looser set of rules that we are. True conservatives, for example, would never stand by a serial adulterer and the press would never allow any "R" a moment's peace if he molested the women in his charge.

Republicans have standards and are held to those standards. Democrats have no standards and, like the charismatic wife beater, their shortcomings are ignored or forgiven.

There is a “path to citizenship”. Go back to your home Country, apply to come legally, get Naturalized, “Welcome to America, now BE an American.”

Exactly. We know a family that is doing just that. Filled out the forms and got in line. He is running a successful business, she has a great job. They had their work permits, not how full blown green cards. They can't wait to become citizens.

I don't know of any laws against applying for citizenship.

Sarah Palin is an amusing red meat flame thrower. She is, however, not Presidential material. She hasn’t been in public office in nearly six years and served as Governor for just over half her term.

Somehow I do not think the left believes that or there would not be so many bash Palin propaganda pieces every single day.

You do not work this hard to destroy someone you are not deathly afraid of.....So just maybe republicans should ask themselves why instead of being good little dupes and jump on the left's Palin hatred bandwagon. I am sick to death of the republican me too, me too duplicity instead of standing up for their own. Do you ever see the left doing this to one of their own???

The USA is doomed unless we elect a president who will lead a great revival to reclaim America for Christ. I believe God has put Sarah Palin in the position she has for that very reason. Palin can and will be elected president and the USA will return to its roots as a CHRISTIAN republic that is unashamed to declare itself as such.

Now you just sound like an idiot.

Palin spent her entire adult life in elected office while being a small business owner. She was a real Governor of a real state. She was a real mayor of a real city and has real experience with budgets, administrative duties and street level politics.

I am no backer of a Palin for POTUS run, but we could do much worse when it comes to experience.

More of the GOP-E’s flying monkeys, throwing their excrement at Palin. The corrupt cronyism and sleaze of the GOP beltway elites must be protected at all costs. Palin is one of the few who has a vibrant track-record of going after such corruption. The GOP continues its efforts to purge any and all traces of tea-party or clean-government reformers, in its efforts to pave the way for another Chamber-of-Commerce toady nominee.

The point is this: We will probably not see a Republican president for a while. Voter fraud works too well for Democrats for the time being. I am not willing to discount any Republican at this point.
The Democrats can count on 1,000 of precincts in key states going 99% Democrat with high turnout.
We would be better off having every Republican vote in the Democratic primary for a reasonable candidate.

The path to citizenship already exists: Honorable Military Service in the Armed Forces.

Agreed. She took the unfair all-sided character assault of the liberals, the media, and the GOPe and did not survive. I like her and she is a good activist, but her ship has sailed.

As long as she at least keeps talking, and the Democrats can’t help but react to her, let her keep talking to draw their attention.

Well said. I would also add that Sarah Palin fought corruption in Alaska politics. She took on the GOP establishment and an incumbent Republican governor when she ran for governor.

If Sarah were liberal, she would be celebrated as some combination of Joan of Arc, Annie Oakley, and Rosie the Riviter. The media and liberals turned her into the butt of a thousand jokes precisely because she is capable and conservative.

Is that why they keep talking about her? Because she doesn't matter? LOLOL Too bad that you just don't get it.
