Jobless claims will rise rapidly as the price of oil
plummets.

Engineering companies associated with the oil business are already laying off personnel.

Also, just because it aggravates me...

“Methinks” is neither trendy nor degenerate. It is classical, like “for sooth.” Its origins are mid-millenium, and it is used in classical works by people such as Shakespeare.

“The lady doth protest too much methinks.”

In many states, you must wait one year after exhausting your benefits before you can apply again. This also contributes to a decrease in new applications.

In any event, the pool of those eligible for benefits is decreasing. We have more people unemployed today than we did before the Great Recession started. And the native born have been hurt the worst.

Again you do not understand.

BTW, I hope you don’t say “methinks” to adults. It’s does not make you sound cute. It’s trendy degenerate slang primarily used by those in Academia , who think they know the answer to everything, that think it’s witty. Just trust me when I say this...... Adults that have real jobs (not living in fantasy land) with think you are childish idiot behind your back.

Anyhow, the labor participation rate dropped to a 38 year Low. It’s a record 92.9 million Americans not in the labor force. That is the lowest print since December 1977!

What this means is that Americans 16 and older.... did not participate in the labor force. This is according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Here is an article from last September to help you better understand what I’m talking about. The BLS is totally cooking the books on the unemployment numbers. For instance, they do not count people after 2 years with the U-4 report. Please see the article below.

“Meeeethinks!!! Meeeethinks!!! Methinks!!!”

You are sheep and not Shakespeare.

Oh but does it REALLY make you think you sound smart???

This reminds me of Fredo from the movie The Godfather.

Methinks you have your panties in a wad.

1. I am a vice president in the corporate world. Methinks you haven’t ever broken through that ceiling or you wouldn’t be lecturing me about what “adults with real jobs” think about “methinks.”

2. I do not believe the word makes me sound cute. As a fellow conservative, I was actually trying to *downplay* the suggestion that your numbers were *horribly* wrong by using the dated term in a friendly fashion. Methinks you don’t get that.

3. You are apparently still unable to admit that your initial statement was worthy of correction. *Obviously*, everyone on the conservative side of the house knows that the labor force participation rate is at levels not seen since Carter. That’s not the point. You said that there were 100 million less people with jobs than in 2009. That’s terribly wrong and shouldn’t be repeated in public lest you risk making conservatives look like idiots. Methinks you have a real problem with admitting when you are wrong.

1) If you really are a VP, then what are you doing on Free Republic in the middle of the work day? “Methinks” you are full of bull because most VPs would never admit that. Furthermore, you are clearly not bright enough to realize all I have to do is look at the time of your past posts on Free Republic nonetheless. For what it's worth...., what does your status have to do with the price of beans in China on a late Wednesday night?

2) I have yet to seen any conservatives in person use the term “methinks”. Now I have seen many Teachers in Academia use this word with other over used words like “ironic” and “indeed” that the media also uses pretending to be original. It is remarkably pathetic. If you really are a VP, then I strongly suggest not to use it among your colleagues.

3) You did NOT know what I was talking about. It was very obvious. The fact that you clearly did not initially grasp this, use childish words like “methinks” and play these little word games (another sign of academia), can't be humble enough to admit you did not know..... tells me everything I need to know about your mentality.

I still think you are someone in Academia or maybe at the BLS. The point you made is 100% certified rubbish.

So then you steadfastly refuse to admit what is plainly visible in your post? The incorrect claim that there are 100 million less jobs now than in 2009?

If you cannot acknowledge to obvious truth right before our eyes, then it is clear you are plainly delusional.

Furthermore, it is also obvious you talk out of your arse as a regular matter. You clearly do not know a single vice president of anything, or anyone in a c-level position. Newsflash for you: VPs are very much interested in current events and often troll news sites during the day to stay informed. FR is my news site of choice. Sometimes I feel compelled to comment. Amazing, huh? VPs are human beings too who like to do normal stuff in addition to making the business world hum. (Or, in my case, the business and IT world.)

Your ignorance of etymology and the psyche of leaders is now on full display. Couple that with your pathological insistence on not admitting you posted in error and we start to get a full picture into your relatively small mind. Sadly, it’s people like you who make it impossible for the rest of us conservatives to win hearts and minds.

Methinks you should grow up.

Oh, and to clarify, the VP status was only mentioned because you made some specious claim about “adults with real jobs” or whatnot. I know logic escapes you, so I’ll spell it out for you: psst... it means I have a real job and I’m one of the one percenters. And - shock, gasp - I post on FR *and* use the word “methinks!”

Omigod! The horror!

IN the past it has seemed to perversely like jobless reports. This has been considered easier for businesses.

Obama has broken the economy so horribly that the standard metrics no longer work. jobless claims and the unemployment rate simply don’t tell the story any longer. in fact, these false indicators are complicating reality by creating false hope, and camafloging the economic rot that is eating away at our economy. by the time we figure it out, it may be too late.
