WASHINGTON (AP) The Drug Enforcement Administration abandoned an internal proposal to use surveillance cameras for photographing vehicle license plates near gun shows in the United States to investigate gun-trafficking, the agency's chief said Wednesday.
DEA Administrator Michelle Leonhart said in a statement that the proposal memorialized in an employee's email was only a suggestion, never authorized by her agency and never put into action. The AP also learned that the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives did not authorize or approve the license plate surveillance plan.
Automated license plate scanners take pictures of every vehicle that passes their field of view and record the information in a database that can be used to track a vehicle's movements over time.

I'd like to know precisely how tracking vehicles near gun shows (whether the owner attended the show or not, not to mention lots of guys take their buddies to the shows and their buddies vehicles would not be tracked) could be used to "investigate gun-trafficking."
In my mind, it's the casual gun buyer (read feral thug) that needs to be tracked.
Is the DEA suggesting another "Fast & Furious" would be prudent?
They would have had a field day trying to track all of those at the BIG TULSA Gun shows!
huh??
California DOJ went or currently goes through Gun Shows in AZ and NV
recording plate numbers.
I don’t believe it. Oh, not that they planned to - that I believe. I don’t believe they abandoned it.
Yeah, they’ve told so many lies, why would we believe this?
Until some alphabet soup is poured down the drain NOTHING will change!
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that weve set. Weve got to have a civilian national security force thats just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. Barack Hussein Obama, 7/2/2008They dont call it a Civil Defense force, that would imply we need (or perhaps that we deserve) defense. The official name is National Civilian Community Corps.
I think of it as the NatCCC, or more simply, as the NatCs...

Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
I spotted a NC state tagged Crown Vic with license scanners mounted on the rear sides cruising the parking lot at a gun show last summer.
Does anyone really believe they won’t simply go ahead, and DO IT ANYWAY..?
I believe they’ve been doing this FOR YEARS in California...
The DEA needs to look at its various offices across the country and wonder how their fat, useless, doughnut-munching, 50 IQ, bumbling idiots could possibly last five minutes on a battlefield.
If they say they’re not doing it then they’ve been doing it for a very long time. Probably an inside patriot leaked this out.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list

Abandoned the plan? Sure they did..
Oh, drat! Well, anyway, see you there!

Another one of Obama’s female neo-nazis. Check out, for yourself, how many other Obie women are running key govt agencies dealing with internal security and crime, and failing at it (check out immigration, DEA, ATF, Coast Guard, ICE, NSC, etc. You’ll be surprised at who you will find in many of these agencies as their key leaders).
