Unlimited torque on demand. As much as you and your drive train can handle.

I’m waiting for Freeper EV bashers to try one out and get the “insane mode” experience in full.

Two things:

I want to see a re-run of the race with the Hellcat. In the original, the Hellcat driver went past the stage, and was trying to reset when the Tesla driver launched; he tried to recover but it was obvious the Hellcat guy was caught off-guard.

I want to see the Tesla against one of the AWD Porsches. The Hellcat might have 700hp, but it’s still RWD only, and it takes more practice to launch. The various AWD Porsches manage 0-60 times in the low 3s to upper 2s.

For those not familiar with electric motors, you basically have full torque available from 0 to the max rpm. All future aircraft carriers will all have linear motor aircraft launch systems.

You KNOW both BMW (who builds the limited-edition i8) and Porsche (who builds the limited edition 918) are going to try to figure out ways to use the electric motors on their hybrid sports cars to beat the Tesla S P85. Ferrari may just attempt that with the very limited edition LaFerrari hybrid sports car, too.

It will be interesting how long investors will keep pumping money into this dog. Musk has already admitted that Tesla won't be turning the corner for a profit until after 2020.

Anyone out their interested in sending the boy money for 4-5 years with a 0% return? /s

My first diesel was a bit bigger than a Ford Focus and yet had an engine that produced 425 ft lbs of torque. There are *Ferraris* that don't have that much torque.Yet it got about 40mpg on the Interstate and had a 600 mile range as well.Keep you Teslas...I'll stay with diesel.

For those short commutes that these toys are stated to be designed for, the roads won’t support such speeds or acceleration. So, who cares how fast 0-60 is when they won’t have the opportunity to do it?

Impressive, the technology is getting much better. But still is there a cost analysis of filling a gas tank vs the electric meter spinning so much faster while charging?
