It's amazing that the Desktop business of Apple's is continuing to expand as other companies have theirs shrinking. And considering the humongous profits reported yesterday from Apple ... they're obviously doing the right stuff, business-wise!

I suspect that Windows 8 had a lot to do with Apple’s market share increase

In colloquial usage, a “PC” was always understood to be a different desktop computer than a “Macintosh”. It’s an OLD USAGE, so you may not be familiar with it.

It’s actually been increasing for quite a few years and long before Windows 8.

When my grandaughter was entering high school 5 years ago she wanted a Mac and nothing else.

She earned 1/2 and her parents paid the other half.

People who still use PC’s probably also have a couple of British cars, so they have at least one that’s working when they need to go somewhere.

I think it’s the fact that sooooo many people have iPhones now. They see the interface and want it for their home/office computer as well. Familiarity breeds comfort.

I use a Mac for my work, it’s amazing how many Macs there are now in the workplace compared with just a few years ago.

I think I remember when they were made with real meat.

Not sure if they have made any inroads into the enterprise business world, but they have among the small mom and pop types of business.
