She simply didn’t want to cover up her clown suit and hair-hat she is so proud of. I’d also bet there wee a couple of “don’t you know who I am”’s in here too. It had nothing to do with making a political statement and everything to do with arrogance. She accidentally did the right thing for self-serving purposes, nothing more.

She was definately, and once again, unconcerned for any type of protocal...as usual. It’s all about “meet me because I’m FLOTUS and you’re fortunate to be in my company”.
At worse is she likely didn’t even want to be there...she’s been done with her job as Flotus within the first few weeks from when she got there.
