“gabacho” is another term of endearment our new Aztlan overlords reserve for us.
At my highly multicultural former worksite the latinos y pochos referred to Filipinos as “chinos”.
Chino is/was a catchall term inclusive of Filipinos, Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thais and anyone else remotely related to the above mentioned. Political correctness was refreshingly absent from our workplace.
When I spoke Spanish to my Mexicans, I tried to channel my favorite Mexican actor, Gilbert Roland. Usually brought them quickly to heel, especially after shooting one or two. But hard as one might try, one cannot treat Mexicans as badly as their own upper classes do! What a funky outfit!
Herewith then, some words from my favorite Mexican philosopher (and marriage counselor), Cuco Sanchez
If you ever hope to hook up with a charming señorita, you had better listen up, Gringo! Take two tequilas and call me in the morning
Just doin' the same old, same old. As if we thought there'd be a difference after November...
The señoritas I know, cholos call them ‘hynas’, are more into rock than the sound of an acoustic guitar. But they will usually accept una tequila or dos.
Now Pel, didn’t your ma tell you never to say “cholo?”
Well sometimes I say ‘what up, (vato, ese, gangsta, G, or just homie)’
