Snow and powerful winds swept into the Northeast on Monday as a storm predicted to grow into a major blizzard prompted mass transit shutdowns, highway closures, thousands of airline flight cancellations and a ban on driving in New York City and on major roads across the region.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the closure of New York City’s subway and bus system as of 11 p.m. Monday, the first such closure since Superstorm Sandy hit the region in the fall of 2012.
With the closure of all mass transit, and the citywide driving ban as of 11 p.m., Cuomo’s declaration meant the nation’s largest city would be brought to a complete standstill except for people willing to venture out into the blowing snow.
Cuomo’s announcement came amid concerns that winds associated with the storm would gust as high as 70 mph.

NYC has never had a snow storm before, and the MSM is going to be making a major effort to find out who to blame.
I can guess who that will be.

An emergency has been declared in several US states as a storm bringing hurricane-force winds and 90cm (36ins) of snow barrels down on the north-east.
Non-emergency vehicles have been banned on New York City’s 6,000 miles of roads after 23:00 local time.
“Recognise this as an emergency, this is not business as usual,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Heavy snowfall is forecast from Philadelphia to Maine, falling up to four inches an hour in some areas.
By 11 PM they’ll be empty ... :-) ...
I know. It’s terrible. No group of people in history have ever been subjected to more terrible weather than the population of the Atlantic Coast of the United States.
Which happens to be where the MSM center-of-gravity is.

They declare a State of Emergency in Oklahoma, across the state for 10-15 inches ... so I don’t begrudge them in New York for doing so with up to 36 inches coming ... :-) ...
If they handle it the way Ray Nagin did down in The Big Chocolate, they’ll park all the snow removal equipment in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and take private jets out to Houston.
And let everyone know: It’s Bush’s Fault.
No way, they have a communist in charge now, and we all know that communism can accomplish anything! Now that that is out prayers and hopes that everyone gets through it Ok, my Niece is in N.Y. and due to deliver any time now ,I hope the baby can wait till this blows over.
That could be trouble. Let’s hope it’s not.

Whenever communists actually get control of anything, a spate of incredibly bad weather invariably follows.
Sometimes the string of bad weather can last sixty or seventy years.
