...why not just announce the start of a free-for-all on US citizens?

LOL - that IS what they're saying. The US government is washing their hands of anyone who stays. One more 'Obama success story."

I'm sure the deals with Iran will work out just as well too...

Thanks for the info.

The article seems to say that the Embassy will remain open, but IMHO getting out NOW is good advice. If/when the SHTF the US Embassy might be the last place you want to be.

Ships are standing by to evacuate Embassy staff but how many extra have they planned to transport? I'm guessing troops have been ordered not to engage, just bug out ASAP. Whether or not they're actually under fire I expect stress and chaos - people will get killed and/or left behind. Better to avoid that scene and leave now!

Wait, is this the same Yemen that Obama and Kerry called a “success story”? The same country they have enlisted in their fight against ISIS? The same country that was the lynchpin in their strategy for peace in the Middle East? Where Kerry went to settle the Israeli/Gaza War last year?

Can’t be.

Not a Christian video:

It's because of an evil pro-war / pro-invasion blockbuster about cowardly snipers and produced by a Hater who once made fun of our esteemed Resident.

And, the "on your own" part is certainly because all aviation assets designated for evacuation of the little people were too far away.

You know, I’ve thought about that too.

Some how some way - some moron is going to tie ‘American Sniper’ to some terrorist action and say “See??? I told you so.”

As someone noted earlier on this thread, the embassy is not a travel agency. If a person is a civilian working for a multi-national corporation, or is teaching, that person went to Yemen on their own, they made their own travel arrangements. The embassy in the case if San’a, would probably open up the compound if any AMCITs were endangered. San’a is close enough to the shore to be rescued by Marines. My last post was Havana. If the SHTF,the few AMCITS would probably been admitted to the compound and await rescue by the Marines from Key West. Guantanamo is over 500 miles from Havana. I know it sounds cold, but if you’re going into harm’s way, you’d better be prepared to hoof it to the border. Bring plenty of cash.

The Iwo Jima ARG is standing off the coast of Yemen, waiting to receive Americans who need to leave.
