President Obama is being knocked by local press for chewing gum today at the Republic Day parade in India.
"In an ungainly sight, cameras caught US President Brack Obama chewing gum during the Republic Day parade on Monday. In the picture captured by cameras and posted on Twitter by some users, Obama was spotted removing his chewing gum while PM Modi was seen trying to explain something to the US president," reports the Times of India.

I’m a throwback to the frontier and I still have the sense to use a tissue or the gum wrapper to take out used chewing gum . . . unless I am using it as a temporary patch on a fuel line or something of the sort.

I’ve never heard about incidents like this with any other President, but these things seem to happen a lot with Obama. Previous Presidents, when they traveled abroad, were always briefed beforehand on protocol, local customs, appropriate behavior, etc. in order to avoid embarrassing behavior or offending the host country. Doesn’t anyone sit down with Obama and explain these things to him prior to a trip?....or does he just not bother wasting his time with these “silly little details?”
