There are more illegals (wetbacks) in this country then there are Union members. And I would think that most of the union members in the US are government workers, or members of SEIU.

How many union members are there in the manufacturing sector of the economy?

According g to BLS manufacturing union participation is about 10.5%.

It is my experience traveling around that the remaining industries with union workers are the large, forbes 400 types with facilities dispersed widely. Down south, the union plants don’t seem to be a great deal different than non union. The unions are not militant and there is not the animosity there might have been. There is not the former union take over of all bulletin boards and blatant propaganda.

It is also my observation that the bathrooms of union shops are less clean and even trashed.

In large measure, the manufacturing unions have learned to keep a low profile

This is my finding as a result of lots a observation but might be totally wrong
