To: T-Bone Texan

Hmm, if we are talking during winter, it would seem that the garage and refrigerator would provide enough insulation from the sub-freezing temperatures to keep the beer chilled but not frozen even without power. Right? Does beer explode when frozen as soda does?

Well Friend, I live in Houston, and our hurricanes (and thus power outages) normally occur in the warmer months. Even in the winter it only drops to around 32 at night and warms during the day, so it is not great weather to keep frozen foods frozen. Our contingency plan involves cramming the fridge and wrapping it in a blanket.

Yes, frozen beer explodes if it is in glass. Cans just expand, but they lose their carbonation. I just make black and tans with those.
