It is not rambling.
We are early in the process. Cruz has a lot of support from his home state.
But, believe it or not, here in the Northeast we do not hear a lot about Texas Senators. That is what the two year election cycle is about. I am trying to figure out why he is so great to you guys, compared to a Perry or Rubio or any of the other “right-er” candidates.
I am trying to help change FR into a place where people can have discussions again. So, if you do not want to answer the question, that is fine. If you wish to be a wise ass, that might just be your nature. I think its important to exchange ideas, not insults.
Fortunately, there are other people using the site who have the mental capacity and demeanor to actually help each other. And, there are people like you.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. Even if your response was useless and did not come close to giving me a single reason to fall in love with your candidate.
Thank you for your answer. I considered Trump a possibility in the past. But no longer. He might be a good business person, but he is no leader. His vision might be OK. But his delivery and his style is abrasive and condescending.
My question about Cruz had more to do with his background and why the folks in TX were in love with him. I was interested in what he had done before.
Some of the answers have filled in those blanks and certainly makes me want learn more about him.
What a lot of people on FR do not “get” is that the country is large and TX candidates and office holders do not get a lot of play.
As an example, MA has presented a lot of Presidential Candidates in my life time. Our Commonwealth is small. I know some of these guys through my professional connections. Not golf playing buddies, but we are friends with the same professional people in government. That said, I know things about Dukakis, Kerry, Romney, and Warren that the average guy on the street would not now. As such, I KNOW first hand that they guys are not qualified to the President (beyond the obvious communist leanings—I am speaking of personal issues that are not in the mainstream press.)
I would not expect anyone to share personal information that would be detrimental to a relationship. However, I can tell you that one of those names I listed had no problems taking long, private, limo rides with young female reporters when his position was more “local” than state wide. His inappropriate relations were his deal—not mine, but I knew business people who were very careful with their dealings with him after that. Today, I imagine there are leaders of other countries in the world who are equally careful; or who might feed that type of activity. He thinks he is beyond reproach. But personalities do not change.
I guess I was looking for information who are closer (geographically) to him. Those impressions and information are a lot more important than what you are every going to find on google.

I too was moved to tears, He IS our New Reagan! Humor, style, brains, and guts. He is the future of America. Imagin him in a debate! If he doesn’t run in 16—he will in 20. We need a man like him. He will shake things up just as Ronald Reagan did long ago. Reagan broke the back of the USSR—Cruz will break the Islamic Threat! He will be hated—riviled—Palinitized—and worse—but he is the future of America! he’s real in ways that Mitt couldn’t fake. (but Mitt would be an OK VP) It will be interesting.

Then I started another business, and retired two years ago. Now my wife and a couple of kids dont have to work again.

Regarding his birth, unless his parents were assigned outside of the US due to Government assignment, he is no more a naturalized citizen than Obama.
But, since Obama was allowed to run...Cruz should be allowed as well.
But, there are people who believe Obama is not an NBC. And they SHOULD think Cruz is not either.

That was the plan...then the Rep.s have to spend the time picking up all the pieces for their duration in office until the next election where the Democrats blame them for no advancements....they win then start the messes all over again.
Trump is abrasive and condesending but I can tolerate that in a person if they do the job well. Tough I really don’t see him being serious about running...still it’s enjoyable hearing his talking points from his perspective.
As for Cruz’z popularity in Texas I can’t speak for them as I’m not a Texan. However when they do get behind a candidate it’s all the way and known pretty much for that.
I stayed up all night, not planning to do so, when he had the filibuster because i learned more about how our Government Works and the Consitution from a legal perspective then I’ve ever heard before...and he presented it in such a way anybody could understand. It should be required listening for every student in the USA.
So after that I began watching for him after that he really sold me, not because he tried to but because he meets what I want to see in a leader in many respects....and has fought fights nobody else would take on.
That’s the truth.
