Plus all the state and federal taxes are fixed per gallon regardless of the price per gallon.
Federal tax is 18.5 cents per gallon. State taxes are tacked on top of that. Texas adds an additional 20 cents per gallon. California adds an additional 50 cents.
I hate government. governmentS impose a million different taxes and regulations on us and businesses.
I can estimate that the cost of all these taxes summed and regulations summed is probably at least 70% of our income ;and for what : government schools, global warming studies, IRS, EPA , housing projects, welfare and other bs .Ridiculous.
government, democrats and the media are the problem.
Imagine if idiot democrats would allow us to have only 1 tax a 10% sales tax and no gov regulations then the economy would take off and we’d all have a lot more money and opportunities in the business world.no income tax , no property tax, no gasoline tax etc.
Thanks. Plumb forgot to list the taxes -- which are a major part of the price of gasoline. California, in fact, also imposes a sales tax on gasoline -- a tax on a tax, which can reach 10% of the gross cost. And, this year, a brand new carbon credit/cap & trade tax will add another ten cents-or-so per gallon.
In the face of all these taxes, how can we possibly complain about the refiner pocketing something between a nickel and a dime per gallon?
