A double dose of snow makes its way toward NYC Driver miraculously survives pileup between two big rigs Motorists angry over alternative-side parking rules during snowfall New York braced for one of the biggest blizzards in “the city’s history,” with over 24 inches of snow expected to blanket Gotham on Monday and Tuesday, authorities said.

“We are facing one of the largest storms in the city’s history,” Mayor de Blasio said. “This could be a storm…the likes of which we have never seen before.”

Snow is expected to begin falling just before sunrise on Monday before the serious blizzard kicks in late in the afternoon and through Tuesday morning’s rush, forecasters said.

Garbage and recycling will be suspended Monday and Tuesday so New York’s Strongest can put full efforts into clearing up to 36 inches of snow.

I remember that winter. I was out-to-here pregnant. It was a hard, hard winter.

They used to have trucks in NYC that they would drop the snow into, and it would use the heat from the engine to melt the snow and drain it right into the sewers.

That was a while ago. Dont know if they still have them.

I love how folks do not have a clue about other parts of their own country. I drove through Charlotte one day after the got 10 inches of snow, it looked like Mad Max. In MA it was cleaned out in an hour. Down there it was the end of the world.

I had to laugh the whole way to Georgia.

Heavy as in high water content? The answer to that I think is no. The water content ratio will be between 10:1 and 15:1. That's a light fluffy snow.

The temp forecast doesn't look promising for that from what I have gleamed. We'll see. Mid to high 20's snow here in the Midwest is not to light....

It’s funny. They come to a place in the West, where ice sprays at over 100 mph to form ice dunes. Before their first winter, they say, “I know all about winter! I’m from New Yuk (or ‘New Joisey’)!”

They would be having some real fun, if they saw temperatures in the minus 30s a couple of nights after the little storm.

They have been doing this for 400 years in NYC. I think they probably have tried everything. Except moving to Alabama.

You’re right. The POLITICIANS in NY panic, but we regular people are fine as long as we have our bread and milk.

That’s not to say we LIKE it...a 2-3-foot snowstorm does in fact make travel both hazardous and difficult. Having a metro-area population of this many people, with this many cars and this many roads just makes it worse.

Regards,

“My husband and I - if this storm comes off - will survive on our gas heaters and fireplace!”

I’m glad you will be okay. I am a problem solver - if something is wrong, I will figure out how to fix it - but I can’t stop this storm from killing people.

The amount of people in NYC is far more than in Buffalo. Also NYC is a large city whereas Buffalo is a small city at best. These two cities are in reality worlds apart.
