I don't know what has happened in the past few years, but this is not the same old Sarah Palin that rocked everybody at the '08 Convention and energized so much of the base for that loser, McCain. Maybe she is just trying too hard to rock the crowd and maybe trying too hard to be funny?

At the Freedom Summit, she was not playing to the crowd. Not everyone there was an SP supporter. She was laying out a potential gameplan that was designed for closer examination IN PRINT LATER. This particular speech was not a typical stump speech. It seem to be designed, to some extent, to inform her potential staff and team members to get ready...it's coming down.

Her new speech pattern with her SINCERE gestures in this presentation was tailored to deliver specific information to specific people and not just to persuade potential voters and supporters who were in attendance there. I'm a voice coach. I pay attention to how she's doing. She nailed it Saturday in Iowa.

You could be right from a technical standpoint but from our personal standpoint (and we like and would support her) it fell short. The question is, will she be able to appeal far beyond her loyal base? After all, she has been thoroughly demonized by the media since 2008. She has a huge hill to climb from that angle alone and her screechy voice grates.

From a persuasion and speechifying standpoint, I think Cruz is much better. But that is just my uninformed gut opinion. Your mileage no doubt varies.

At first I was a little disappointed as I expected more of a formal speech. The more I thought about it though, the more I agree with your comments. I keep thinking of what that reporter from the Anchorage paper said soon after her VP announcement in 08, "Sarah Palin, she's a political savant." She knows what she's doing. I think she was channeling Ronnie a bit with the humor and the 'real person' conveyance.

Remember her Indianola speech? More of those on deck I'm sure. Now everyone waiting for the next speech.

If she's running, she needs to get a ground game going soon and announce by at least May with a One Nation bus tour in every one of the lower 48 states this summer.
