Sons of Liberty (History Channel) First Look
Tv equal ^ | 1/25/15 | staff

Posted on 01/25/2015 9:04:43 AM PST by Mozilla

The upcoming six-part miniseries, Sons of Liberty, follows a defiant and radical group of young men – Sam Adams (Ben Barnes), John Adams (Henry Thomas), Paul Revere (Michael Raymond-James), John Hancock (Rafe Spall) and Joseph Warren (Ryan Eggold) – as they band together in secrecy to change the course of history and make America a nation.Calling themselves the Sons of Liberty, they light the spark that ignited a revolution. Though their names have become American legend, this group of young rebels didn’t start off as noble patriots in powdered wigs. They were a new American generation of young men from varied backgrounds, struggling to find purpose in their lives. They were looking for equality, but they found something greater: Independence.

Sons of Liberty premieres its three night event on January 25th at 9pm on History Channel.

Looking forward to it. Hopefully it will be fairly historically accurate.

Set up to record, so I can bypass commercials on the playback ;^D

People who say there is nothing worth watching are morons.

Last night I watched “The Patriots” on AHC which was about unknown patriots like John Honeybrook who told Washington about the Germans at Trenton. Also Salem Poor, a black minuteman who received a congressional commendation for his actions at the battle of Breeds hill.

Right now I’m watching 1 day in Auschwitz (Simulcast on AHC and Discovery) Kitty Hart-Moxon speaks about her experiences.

Tonight at 8 pm eastern Schindler’s list is showing commercial free on AHC.

I thought it was neat that they did a segment last night on Captain Samuel Whittemore.

Can they possibly keep themselves from inserting some ridiculous homo scene? That will be the true test. There doesn’t seem to be a show these days that doesn’t do that and they are all repulsive.

I wish more of that content were available for streaming on Netflix and Amazon.

Samuel Whittemore was a tough old bird.

Took on the British pretty much on his own till he was shot at point blank range and bayoneted more than a dozen times AND STILL LIVED INTO HIS 90s.

If George Washington is not played by a Black guy then it is racist.

Teaser is terrific. Hope it’s accurate, at least in what was written and done. It would be too hard to be accurate on the emotions.

“They were a new American generation of young men from varied backgrounds, struggling to find purpose in their lives. They were looking for equality, but they found something greater: Independence.”

They were looking for equality? Looking for “purpose” in their lives? Sounds like 20th and 21st century BS.

Saw the previews yesterday.

I don’t know. Something about it isn’t striking a good chord with me. I guess I’ll have to hold my skepticism in check until after I see a full episode.

We watched a series about the Revolutionary War on AHC, the American Heroes Channel last night. Can’t think of the Title right now.

What amazed us were the small things that occurred that would have allowed the British to defeat the Patriots and the many people we never heard or read of that contributed to the outcome of the War.

If you have that Channel, check it out.
It was very well done.

One mystery of the war is “The Florida Campaign”.

While doing research on my ancestors I came across many veterans records. In order to get a pension, they had to list their history including various battles they were in.

A whole bunch listed the Florida Campaign. I have even done research and found next to nothing, yet it must have been a serious campaign.

Like the German commander at Trenton who didn't bother to read the note handed to him that warned that the Americans were massing to cross the Delaware. Oops.

Well, the preview refers to wise old Ben Franklin as “The womanizer,” which isn’t exactly a promising omen.

He did have a certain reputation in that regard...

I can see the skewing this too easily.

It’s not like it hasn’t happened before.

LOL I was just thinking about that.

Some people just can’t cope with the idea that our founders were mortals and Franklin was a wild man.
