Honoring those who have served before.

A supergroup is a music group whose members are already successful as solo artists or as part of other groups or well known in other professions. Usually used in the context of rock and pop music, the term has been applied to other musical genres such as The Three Tenors in opera.

The term is sometimes applied retrospectively when several members from a group later achieve notable success in their own right. Supergroups are sometimes formed as side projects and thus not intended to be permanent, while other times can become the primary project of the members' careers. Charity supergroups, where prominent musicians perform or record together in support of a particular cause have been common since the 1980s.

They do not necessarily have to be surge protectors. Simple power outlet strips may suffice for some devices. For example, you want to surge protect computers, TVs, etc, but why surge protect kitchen appliances? They are not subject to surges unless they are running/in use.

Surge protectors should not be plugged into each other. One can actually blow the other one. That is why there are extension cords. ;-)

There is a very small circuit in a surge protector that will act like a circuit breaker. They are devalued with each ‘trip’. If they are set to trip at, for example, 20 Amps then the very first time they trip they will trip above 20 Amps. However, the next time they trip, they may trip at only 19.5 Amps, for example. If they keep tripping multiple times then the breaker has been devalued to almost 0 Amps. The one you have sounds like it has tripped too many times and should be replace immediately if not sooner. ;-)

There is no particular brand name. However, keep in mind that you get that for which you pay. For computers, switches, routers, modems, TVs, other electronic equipment that you value, etc, I would suggest battery backups but they may be prohibitively expensive.

The bottom line is that most damage is done through the dial-up, DSL modem and/or cable line. That is why I would recommend a battery backup for the computer. Battery backups have surge protected outlets for the telephone line, DSL and cable modem lines.

I think that I have answered all of your questions but the above may elicit even more questions! LOL

Good evening/morning, spel, and thank you for the Friday Night Edition of the Salsa Addiction Emergency Room! ((HUGS))

How are the eyes? Still improving, or is it quicker?

Eyes are much, much better. There was a time when bright sunlight was too much for my eyes. I HAD to wear dark sunglasses. As the cataracts grew I no longer needed sunglasses. After the surgery I now once again have to wear dark sunglasses. TV programs are bright and shiny again and I can read the fine print on TV, too! ;-)

Thanks for all the good info.....

I will get a big pillow, get down on the floor, lie down under the table, and unplug the “too many times” tripped strip and plug in the new one....having dropped the cord down from the table top, first thing in the morning. Then try to get up. LOL!

All my power strips are on my desk top at work.

I’ve had a couple APC battery back ups, but not much luck with them. One kept going off with nary a flicker of anything else and the other just quit.

“I’ve had a couple APC battery back ups, but not much luck with them. One kept going off with nary a flicker of anything else and the other just quit.”

My guess would be that the seller sold to you a unit that had already been sitting on the shelf for a lengthy period of time and the battery was almost already dead.

We have a store called Batteries Plus....maybe I can take the APC there and have a new, really new, battery put in it and see what happens.

I must retire...I keep falling asleep.

Good night/morning, spel. ((HUGS))

The ankle is doing better, but now my whole left arm and wrist are in great pain...I don’t know if it got injured as well in the fall, or it could be from using a cane to get around.

It’s messing with my guitar playing.
