'Grown ups' in our culture decided children below a certain age should be protected from all sorts of predatory adults. Like those selling worthless swamp land, those offering predatory loans and from men want to take sexual advantage of them.
We don't allow people to take advantage of the natural gullibility of the young... Young people can't be 'taken' until they're 18 then it's Caveat emptor ... and prayers for their safety.

I don't think the people who operate in the international sex trade of human trafficking ask for IDs, signatures on contracts or any other kind of permission. Just sayin', Doc, this kind of flesh peddling has nothing to do with precocious teen or pre-teen girls getting over on gullible horn dogs.
I remember one fourteen year old who could have told me she was twenty five, and I would have believed her. Nothing about her said "girl" -- not her appearance, and not her conversation during the fifteen minutes I spent talking with her and listening to her talk with others.
She simply WAS a grown woman.
