What’s that you say? You want your guns back? Well guess what? You are going to have to FIGHT for them! Maybe you should have listened to those of us who told you that you shouldn’t give them up in the first place!
I’d have to ask one of our UK posters about the response time for armed bobbies to arrive.
But besides that, they might find this an interesting development.
A formerly rabidly anti-gun author wrote this?
Holy smokes!
Ping to Moose to share with fellow compatriots from his side of the pond.
Before you were "enthusiastically" for a gun ban, but now you are "utterly" opposed. This is a result of making decisions based upon your emotional reaction to events rather than upon principles.
I love how the rich and powerful in the U.S. who are surrounded by 24 hour armed security (either private or paid for by taxpayer dollars) are opposed to it for average Americans trying to defend themselves and their families.
I doubt I’ll live to see a day when a government returns liberty to it’s charges. The Peasants are unarmed, they pose no threat to the ruling class. All else is simply political collateral damage in these times of Sharia Law encroachment.
The world is not filled with Neville Chamberlins.
During WWII American civilians donated large quantities of small arms to the British due to the impending invasion. Too bad they confiscated and destroyed them. They’d come in handy for this invasion as well!
In countries where guns are illegal, only the criminals have guns is the frankly mad situation we now have in the UK.
Well, there’s one that finally woke up. IIRC Australia is very similar with their gun laws.
Once you give up your rights its hard to get them back. Never forget that.
A shotgun is an effective home defense firearm. But not in U.K. where defensive gun use results in automatic arrest.
Better judged by twelve than carried by six, I guess.
U.K. police have WAY too much discretionary powers IMO.
Sounds like the way Israel lives.
So it was ok when it was just poor people living in crime ridden neighborhoods who lived in fear with no way to defend themselves. Now that journalists, JOURNALISTS I TELL YOU, actually have to live in fear guns in the hands of the citizenry seem like a good idea. Well let me tell this fool that his betters in the upper crust, the ones with the armed body guards, the one's who's lies he regurgitated in print, the ones he helped take away guns in the first place, find him quite expendable.
1—Its not gun free. Handguns on the mainland were banned after 1997, rifles and shotguns legal. 2.3m legal guns in the UK, down from 2.6m in 1996.
2—Its always been 999 here. As another poster said, average will be 3-5m.
3—If the emergency caller makes clear guns are involved, armed units and officers will be sent, instead of normal officers (who are armed with 50000v tasers).
NO WAY!
Mr. Brady:
Unfortunate last name.
This probably won’t help with your dilemma, but many Americans are armed with better small arms than your soldiers, not only with sidearms but battle rifles and kit. (For that matter, our own soldiers.)
That must be why so many of you Brits who “fully and completely supported the UK’s complete ban” considered us to be yahoo cowboys. Oh well. We see it, once again, differently. Good to see you have come around though.
Cheers,
America’s Minutemen & Hoplites
better late than never, I suppose. although as “late” goes
it’s quite late
