Agreed. It would be easier all the way around if they got rid of the ethanol and just paid the corn lobby a 10% royalty on every gallon of gas. Of course "royalty" is not the best word here. "Protection money" (mafia sense) works better.

Why can’t they just put all that ethanol into hard liquor, where it’s really needed!?
