I’m sorry for the people who will lose their jobs, I know how they feel, but do you wonder if the Ebay cringed when they heard Lord Foul tout their employer? Isn’t it pretty well established that bad things happen to any enterprise touted by him?

I note that they and several other companies waited until after the SOTU to announce layoffs.

I sell a lot of stuff on Ebay but my history doing so is pretty short. That said, I hang around on the message boards a bit because there are constantly policy changes and as a seller it is hard to keep up.

The word as the water cooler is this guy is single handedly destroying Ebay.

Tesla's out of business in 4 years.

Or offering a real engine to go with that sexy design. Or bought out for that sexy design by a real company. But most likely the former.

I think the acronym SOTU should be changed to STFU.

EBay's problem is not with the economy. It's with their business model now that PayPal is being spun off, as well as other issues.

EBay to cut 2,400 jobs as it prepares PayPal spinoff

“Investors welcomed the layoffs, and the company’s stock jumpedmore than 4 percenton the news.”

Any time the enemedia touts the stock market as evidence of “recovery”, understand what exactly moves stock prices. Cutting American jobs (either due to technology or because they are shipping them over to bolster Asia’s middle class) is a great way to boost stock price. The stock market is NOT an indicator of the financial well-being of the avergae American.

bh0 has now established that his mentioning ‘successes’ in the SOTU address is a guarantee that the company will be laying off or closing completely within a couple of months afterward.

There should have been a split screen like there were when BO spoke during the Furgeson riots. That was surreal. But this time during the SUA, we should have watched Yemen’s government surrender and the people at Ebay get their pink slips.

When I heard him say those companies (especially Telsa), I almost got sick..When Teksa comes up with a family SUV that tows a 22 foot boat, then I’ll buy it.
