if you scroll down the article, two paragraphs after the picture you'll find out that Silver is a Democrat.

Yep.. Gasp! Democrats are never corrupt. Only evil Republicans. Just ask the fading gray whore, er, I mean the NYT.

And even further down you find:

" “Even though it’s a serious charge and it probably hampers his ability somewhat to be speaker, he still has the confidence of his members,” said Lentol.

The Brooklyn Democrat expected Silver to receive a vote of confidence from his colleagues."

So... how long before the NY Dem party puts up a GoFundMe page for ol' Shelly's defense fund??.. ;-)

Or hosts some $10G a plate dinners..

"Wish Cuomo would get nailed for improper influence of an investigation."

Has Cuomo ever come clean as to why he disbanded the anti-corruption commission? Was it because the Feds asked him to, or was it because he was protecting a fellow Democrat? I think he needs to answer this question since he was the one who put the commission in place to begin with. With his spotty record at HUD, and the unexplained disappearance of Federal money while HUD Secretary, he needs to come clean. People always speculated why Mario Cuomo never ran for President. There were always rumors about corruption, Mafia ties, but nothing ever came of it. Times have changed though. If Andrew ever chooses to throw his hat into the Presidential ring, I wonder if the dirt will be allowed to rise to the top.

We likely will see.
Andy thinks he has the moxy to be President.
Of course, we have an unqualified amateur in office at the moment.
That gives Andy quite the morale boost.

That’s true; before Obama was elected I thought we’d seen the last Dem president from a socialist rustbelt state; now I’m not so sure. All ethnic bets are off (where people felt no non-WASP would win) if a foreign Muslim can win.

I think Cuomo is hurt by the fact that his state is an economic basket-case that Dems would probably carry anyway; Dems will probably need someone who will put a Republican state up for grabs.

The cities, Syracuse,Ithaca, Albany, and NYC outweigh the rest of the state by a healthy margin.
So. A dem could be caught defiling a corpse and it wouldn’t matter in NY.

I understand; I just don’t think that plays nationally. Who looks to a governor of a dying state for answers? I don’t think Christie is serious about a White House run; he would have the same problem. He’s the best we could hope for in a governor here, but nationally I don’t think that he’d play well.

Cuomo should be charged with obstruction of justice and impeding an investigation. He stopped the Moreland Commission dead in it’s tracks. He knew what was going on, he was only using this for an intimidation tactic. Once investigations started the Albany politicos bowed down to Cuomos demands and he called the dogs off. Thank God for Preet who stepped in and took over the investigation. We have always needed the Feds to step in in this state. A corrupt government cannot investigate itself.
