Rick Santorum Goes After Legal Immigrants
Fox News Radio ^ | Alan Colmes

Posted on 01/21/2015 4:57:52 PM PST by ObamahatesPACoal

Usually, when you accuse someone of being anti-immigrant, that person points out that he or she is anti-“illegal” immigrant. Rick Santrorum has an issue with workers who are not natives. (h/t Karoli at Crooks and Liars).

Rick Santorum’s grandfather came to America in 1923 as an immigrant but that fact does not deter him from thinking that we have a big problem in this country that’s “almost as bad” as illegal immigration.

Here’s some of what Santorum said:

Let me ask you a question. Since 2000 there have been a little over six million net new jobs created. What percentage of those net new jobs are held by people not born in this country? Half? Sixty? All of them.

Yes I want all these immigrants to stop coming to America. We have enough : 80 million 3rd world invaders have come to America after the democrats’ 1965 immigration bill was enacted to destroy this country by balkanizing it. I see my city overrun . I feel as though I'm in Mogadishu, Karachi Pakistan or Mexico city. We have no jobs for Americans.

Rick Santorum is my candidate now.

Yes , in 1965 the democrats passed an immigration bill that changed immigration to come from the 3rd world.this is why California went from electing Ronald Regan to now comifornia/mexifornia. It is the democrats’ plan of turning the USA into a socialist state. It's working In California. It's cultural/racial marxism. Whereas the bolsheviks used the working class against the upper class to install socialism the democrats use the poor/immigrant/non-whites against white middle class Americans . the democrats tell the Mexican immigrants “we want to do things for you the racist Republicans hate you”

Rick is dead on target here, and I do believe most of us approve of legal immigration, within limits.

Rick is right. We are being gamed across the board, by legal and illegal immigrants. (well not them actually...)

We are being gamed by the social engineers in our government.

BIG TIME!

Santorum is correct about the levels on legal immigration. BTW, there has never been any public documents that I have seen stating or showing that Rick's father become or was ever a US citizen. He could have been a illegal alien...which of course would have been funny.

America needs more legal immigration and it needs to deport illegals.

Third world people will come here by the 100s of millions if we let them, and do it without welfare or social programs.

If you live on a dirt floor struggling to live and to eat, and to treat illness, then you would prefer to do that in San Diego, or Anchorage, or Honolulu, than in the backwaters of third world countries, even if there was no welfare or government checks.

“America needs more legal immigration and it needs to deport illegals.”

Methinks you are missing the point completely. We cannot absorb the worlds poor and we need our better jobs to go to American born citizens. Period.

Deporting the illegals is a no brainer. The problem is we have far too many legal immigrants coming in as well. Social engineering at its worst. Our culture and livelihoods are paying the price for it.

Just to clarify...I am a legal immigrant and no American can do my job (actually any American can do my job - its just that the company’s profit would be materially less with the American than me). You see some people aren’t just burger flippers. Some legal immigrants are traders, pro athletes, movie stars, etc. These people can’t simply be replaced by Americans. Try telling the San Antonio Spurs they need to hire only Americans, for example.

I don’t care if I sound arrogant but I want to be clear there would be significant hardship for many, many Americans if I was not permitted to work here.

Legal immigration is critical as some of us contribute enough to the American economy to feed hundreds of Americans. Beware you don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater.

There was a constant labor shortage in the US in the late 19th and early 20th century. They would hire men who could breathe and who looked sturdy right off the boats. Those were the days, I remember them well...:). As late as the 1950’s, Detroit would send buses down to the South and PAY FOR MOVING factory workers up north and front them a down payment.*

But now, things are different.

As an indicator of how the economy is “improving”...I can count on one hand the # of jobs in my field that paid relocation in the last 7 years. Before then, it was common.

I hope one day we can close our border to scum like you. Go back to wherever you came from. Also, if you do breed, which I hope you don't, you will be a parent of an American who will compete with likes of you undercutting them. That is after you paid 100,000 grand to educate them.

So I need to go back where I came from but Tony Parker, Jon Ryan, Manu Ginobli, and hundreds of other athletes who perform for your amusement can stay?

I'm not a fan of Santorum, but I agree that illegal immigration is just the tip of the iceberg. We also need to be a lot more selective in who is allowed into this country legally. Allowing a massive legal influx of people whose cultures are so radically different from ours, or an influx of the most impoverished dregs of any society, is a recipe for disaster.

Unfortunately, things have gotten so bad that the common sense assertion that illegal immigrants should be deported (i.e. enforce existing laws) has become controversial even with the Republican Party, which is why the immigration debate should for now focus on the illegal issue. Only when that issue is dealt with can legal immigration restrictions be put back on the table.

America needs more legal immigration and it needs to deport illegals.

In other words, "solve" the problem of illegal immigration by allowing people in legally who hitherto would have tried to enter illegally. The net result is exactly the same.

I’m normally not a fan of Santorum, but those who attack him on this issue have yet to make a case for why serving as the dumping ground for the dregs of Third World countries is a net plus for America.
