Jim Inhofe flips the script on Democratic climate-change-is-a-hoax vote
Washington Post ^ | January 21 at 5:09 PM | Philip Bump

The United States Senate voted Wednesday to agree that climate change "is real and not a hoax." That was it, the full extent of the amendment to the Senate's slow-moving Keystone XL pipeline bill. Final tally: 98 to 1.

This was one of two traps set up by Democrats to get their opponents on the record as disputing the authenticity of human-caused global warming, a phenomenon nearly universally accepted by the scientific community. But it didn't go as expected.

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) co-sponsored the amendment with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), who introduced it. Inhofe can claim credit as a primary inspiration for the amendment, having literally written a book called, "The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future." But Inhofe joined Whitehouse and urged its passage.

He was up to something. On Twitter, beforehand:

Senators - join me in voting YES on Whitehouse's amdmnt saying climate change is a hoax, bc it is. I'll address my vote in floor speech soon

— Jim Inhofe (@jiminhofe) January 21, 2015

When offered the chance to speak on the amendment, Inhofe -- did we detect a twinkle in his eye? -- explained his unexpected argument. The climate changes all the time, he said, citing both scientific and "Biblical evidence." There was a hoax: the idea that man was responsible. Such a position was "arrogant," in his formulation, the idea that people could affect the mechanisms that controlled the globe. With that distinction drawn -- the climate changes, and that change isn't a hoax, even if the role of humans is -- the vote was held. Only Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) voted 'no.'

It was a nifty, if insincere, bit of politics. There's no question that a vote against a flat statement that climate

A little over 11,000 years ago there was about there quarters of a mile of ice directly over where my house sits today. Several million years ago this same land was at the bottom of an ocean. Thank God for climate change!

Global warming is the hoax. The media changed the name to climate change. There is no warming: Ice is growing at the North pole, at the South Pole , in Greenland and in the Great lakes.

When is somebody going to REALLY STAND UP to these statists?

We saw some shadows of it at the Bundy ranch — don't give up hope: pray, build networks (contact and intel), stock up on logistical supplies as you can, start training and wargaming, keep your eyes and ears open, and don't forget to pray.

When things start rolling, they won't be pretty, but it will go better for us if we are prepared.

There is, perhaps, one avenue that doesn't involve bloodshed left: Article V.
Here are my amendment proposals.

Everyone. This is typical Inhofe and why he has such a great conservative rating. Everyone back in Ok thinks he’s a conservative maverick and forget his votes on raising spending and taxes and funding Obamacare.

Wicker showed he didn’t want to play these word games. It should never have been voted on.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

The same answer they have for everything: tax it.

Water vapor can't be causing warming either since there is no evidence that any form of Greenhouse Warming is occurring.

No smoking hot spot

1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.

Each possible cause of global warming has a different pattern of where in the planet the warming occurs first and the most. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever.

If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming. If we had found the greenhouse signature then I would be an alarmist again.

IF the planet is warming it isn't from Greenhouse gasses.

Strategic error, but it happened because they knew that global warming wasn’t going to happen. They’ve embraced the ‘vague’ and that’s death in politics.

Politicians are shamans capable of blocking out the sun. We grant them the authority to deal with the sun, the moon and the stars. They are our very own gods who make our lives worth living. Their importance is vast and their powers vaster. Just ask them. They will tell you in most somber tones they are our only hope. Of course they can control the temperature of the earth because they have the knowledge and the authority to control the temperature of the sun.
We will always worship the magicians who make the impossible happen. Our mighty ruling class controls the world. We are saved by the best and the brightest, or, at least by the little princes who rule us.

On what planet might that be?

Or did they mean the “Academic Community?”

The two are pretty much mutually exclusive.

They don’t.

Thy only plan to control the flow of money and power, and this vote seals that for this congress.
