Let's assume the balls were inflated to a pressure of 12.5 lb/in^2 at room temperature (74 F), and find out, using Gay-Lussac's Law (P1 T1 = P2 T2) what the pressure of the balls would be if exposed to an air temperature of 50 F:

Stad temp: 50 F = 283.2 K

Room temp: 74 F = 296.5 K

Ratio: 283.2/296.5 = 0.9551

Original pressure (Room temp) = 12.5 lb/in^2

Stadium pressure (Stad temp) = (12.5 lb/in^2)(0.9551) = 11.94 lb/in^2

I believe this is correct.

I’d like for someone to come up with a magical formula that explains why temperature would affect the Patriots’ balls and not the Colts’ balls.
