I still remember taking salt tablets after football practice and gym in high school.

Not to mention ‘water discipline’. Boy, were we thirsty after working out several hours and running 5 miles.

I remember those salt tablets too, came out of a dispenser in the locker room so you could take all you wanted. It was the trademark of being a jock :-)

Basic training, Fort Jackson, SC in the fifties, there was always a jar of salt tablets by the water fountain.

‘I still remember taking salt tablets after football practice and gym in high school.’

Fort Benning in the summer of ‘69? We ate salt tablets by the handful and it apparently didn’t ruin my heart.

That is one reason I always thought the sale thing was crap.
