I must admit to experiencing schadenfreude (feeling pleasure from the misfortunes of others) upon learning that Oprah's movie Selma was snubbed by the Oscars, receiving only two nominations.
As a black conservative Tea Party activist, I knew that the movie was simply another propaganda tool for the Democratic Party and America-hating leftists – a part of their ongoing hideous campaign promoting the lie that America sucks and blacks are still victims of an eternally racist country. Sure enough, as I predicted, the usual suspects who produced Selma are being criticized for blatantly rewriting history.
Using my 1970s heyday lingo, I don't get where Oprah and other liberal mega-rich blacks are coming from. America has been extremely good to these black celebs. Blacks are only 12% of the population. Therefore, Oprah's and her ilk's extraordinary prosperity and success are due to enthusiastic white support. And yet these blacks exploit every opportunity to verbally beat up on white America. I don't get it.
I love my country and realize that I am a black man blessed to be born in the greatest land of opportunity on the planet. Why isn't Oprah out there praising America and spreading the message that the sky's the limit? Her life bears irrefutable testimony to this truth.
During an interview, Oprah said, "What I do every day is to allow the truth to speak through me, and to open people's hearts, and to let them see the great possibility for themselves." While Oprah's stated intention sounds wonderful, in that same interview, she says the shooting of Trayvon Martin was the "same thing" as the 1955 murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till. Oprah, your comparison is not the truth.

I have to thank that one black man for reminding us how bloated and parasitical our government has become.
There are not one, but two MLK Parades today.
With each group saying they are the "authentic" sponsor of Houston's MLK Day Parade.
Look at what they did in the Butler. Turned a solid work ethis that led a man to a top position at the WH into a story of constant oppression and racism.

I saw it at the suggestion of a friend. Some good acting by the men who played LBJ and George Wallace; also the man who played MLK. But it was docudrama, not drama. Great empahsis was given to the violence on the bridge at Selma. It could be accurate but to what purpose?
“Selma” is just more of the disfunctional stream of historic spin that runs constantly on PBS, History Channel, etc, for the past 50 years.
Is there anyone - raise your hands - that DOESN’T know that America once had slavery? Anyone? Beuller? Anyone at all?
Will “one more” reminder film make a spit’s difference in racial relations? Well, insofar that it agitates their base and pushes democrat, socialist causes, maybe. It’s like “Rocky XXXVIII”, after a while you just don’t get nominated for telling the same fictional stories...AGAIN.
Oprah has seen a downward spiral in her career since her prince Obama took his throne...and I emphasize “TOOK”. Not that her bank account has suffered any.
Were it not for her perpetual support and audience of whites during her show years, she couldn’t have amassed her wealth and popularity. Yet, she continues to use those means to slam white that lived over 100 years ago during slavery times. People that are dead, and gone.
Their magic word - “Racist” - is not as effective as it used to be, and they’re trying to re-stoke the furnace of civil rights...AGAIN.
WELL, THIS IS WHERE I CAME IN BACK IN THE 50’s and 60’s, along with the “selected shorts’, the “newsreel” and the color cartoons.
Like the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, I’ve seen it, memorized the script, and tossed the popcorn...I’m outta here for this constant attempt at driving the guilt-mobile.

You are correct. BUTLER was a lie. I met the man who the movie is based on long after he retired. He left because of the horrid attitudes of the Clintons and their contempt for the dignity of the White House. His years with Ike, and all who followed up to Bush 1 were days of pride and joy for him and his staff. They never felt opressed until the Clinton’s came to power. Even Johnson, a died in the wool racist, was dignified in his treatment of the WH staff. Ladybird had much to do with this.
