Patsy Cline, Richie Valens (with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper).

They make no allowance for weather as my mom-in-law said, and she was right. The show must go on.

Stevie Ray Vaughn’s early death was a tremendous blow to the world of music!

Jan 1st, 1979 (I think), was driving I30 from AR to Dallas. Ice storm in TX, with cars and big rigs in median and off road; crosswind ~ 40mph. White-knuckle drive of about 10 hours, instead of normal 5 from Little Rock to Dallas, as wind would blow GMJimmy across lanes on ice.

Near Sulphur Springs, heard on radio about private DC-3 crashing not far away to the East. It was Ricky Nelson’s and he was on his way to Dallas to play a gig that night.
