If the GOP were properly lead, this would be yet another educational moment for the American people to understand why it is critical that we simplify the tax code and abolish the IRS.

Yes, let’s DEMAND that Congress double the salaries of the poor underpaid and overworked IRS employees. And, while we’re at it, demand that Lois Lerner’s retirement benefits be increased 50%—that poor woman.

He said the cuts could force the IRS to shut down operations for two days later this year, resulting in unpaid furloughs for employees.
How are they gonna feed their families? This is the fault of those damn Conservatives in Congress.

If you file electronically, your refund is issued by a computer system, unless your return is flagged as potentially fraudulent. So normal refunds will come through quite quickly.

“People who file paper tax returns could wait an extra week — or possibly longer — to see their refund,”
Pay attention folks
If you get a refund of more than $200 dollars, immediately see an accountant to have your tax liability determined based on your salary, then go to your payroll dept and adjust your withholding to reflect your real Tax Liability. You may not get a refund but you will DENY the Government Free Use of YOUR MONEY!
Being Self employed I pay at the last possible minute and never a penny more than owed. They Do Not get my TAXES IN ADVANCE.

service cuts for taxpayers LOL. What services would he be talking about? How do you cut/degrade services that never existed? Only in the gubbermint.

When are we going to stop calling government employment, "service"? Government employees are parasites!
Especially those elected to "public service" offices!
Most are SELF-serving!

Refund delays... Thankfully, this does not affect the payment cashing division of the IRS.

How about less enforcement of ACA compliance instead?
Again we have ‘misplaced’ priorities.
Reminds me of cuts to education, the first threat is to fewer teachers and larger classrooms. No mention of bloated administration costs.

Good thing I’m not running the IRS. I’d be out in front of my employees saying: “If you cannot process the incoming returns more quickly and with equal accuracy, I will find someone who can.” Whereupon, I’d turn and leave the stage. I really find it hard to believe they are overworked.
