As much as I hated Ohio State growing up. I admit that Woody Hayes, despite how he went out, was a great man, and a worthy rival.

I especially liked that he was a solid conservative who had a passion for History and taught history classes at OSU. You don’t see that much anymore from coaches these days.

Woody was an ardent admirer of General Patton. He spoke/taught often on the subject! He, Woody and Patton were both my kind of guy!

I say him in a November game in Columbus once, cold and snowy, Woody was on the sidelines no coat and a short sleeve shirt. I was there, and yes, it was cold!
